Feature log
All the things we’ve updated
With simplified pricing, you unlock more features when you upgrade plans. For example, Square Premium includes everything from Square Free and Square Plus.
Access and download 1099 tax forms from the mobile app
You can now view and download your 1099 tax forms directly in the Square mobile app. Previously, 1099 forms were only accessible from the web Dashboard.
Access Loans now available in 50 states
Access Loans are now available to eligible sellers in all 50 states, up from 17 states previously. More sellers, including those early in their tenure or with seasonal businesses, may now qualify for short-term loan offers through Square Banking.
AI-powered support available in the mobile POS app
You can now access AI-powered support directly from the Square Point of Sale app on iOS and Android. SquareBot provides in-context help without leaving the app, replacing previous flows where contacting support required navigating away from POS.
Automated data mapping for spreadsheet item imports
When you upload a spreadsheet to import items, Square now automatically maps your columns to the corresponding item fields. This replaces the previous manual column-mapping step.
Balance page now shows estimated fund arrival dates
The Balance page now displays estimated arrival timing for transferred funds. Updated text on the page explains when pending transfers are expected to reach your bank account.
Calculate tips on full amount before Cash Reward redemption
You can now choose whether tip percentages are calculated on the full transaction amount or on the remaining balance after a Cash Reward is applied. This setting is available in your tipping configuration and applies to tip suggestions shown to customers at checkout.
Cleaner order status SMS alerts for online orders
SMS notifications sent to buyers about order status updates have been rewritten to be shorter and easier to read. The updated messages reduce repeated information and improve clarity across all order status alerts sent from Square Online.
Cross-border transaction fees visible in reports
International transaction fees now appear across reporting surfaces in Square Dashboard. When a payment involves a cross-border transaction, the associated fee is displayed as a separate line item so you can see exactly what was charged.
Curbside pickup fulfillment option on Square Online
You can now enable and configure curbside pickup as a fulfillment option for your Square Online store. Customers selecting curbside pickup at checkout can provide vehicle details and receive instructions for where to pick up their order.
Customize active sales channels per location in menus
You can now configure which sales channels are active at each location from your menu settings. For example, you can enable Square Online for one location while keeping it disabled at another. Channel assignments are managed per location within the menu hierarchy.
Display item variations as tappable tiles on POS
Item variations can now appear as individual tappable tiles on your Square Point of Sale grid in Standard mode. This lets you keep variation-level tiles on your POS layout even when restructuring your catalog for online ordering.
Early Feature Access for new feature rollouts
You can now preview and control the timing of major new feature rollouts from your Square Dashboard. Early Feature Access lets you review what a feature does before it goes live, and choose when to enable it across your locations.
Kitchen display names update automatically with item changes
Kitchen display names now stay in sync when you update item names in your catalog. Previously, display name changes on the Kitchen Display System required a manual update by the support team.
On-demand delivery available on Square Online profiles
Sellers using Square Online profiles can now offer on-demand delivery as a fulfillment option. This adds to the existing fulfillment types available on profiles.
Redesigned ordering device setup flow in Setup Guide
The hardware configuration flow for ordering devices in Setup Guide has been updated for Food & Beverage sellers. The revised flow consolidates device setup screens and reduces the number of configuration steps required to connect ordering hardware.
Self-service appeals for account deactivations
If your Square account has been deactivated, you can now submit an appeal directly from your account without contacting support. The self-service appeal flow guides you through providing the information needed for review, and eligible accounts can be reinstated more quickly.
Shift reports available on Square Terminal and Square Handheld
Staff can now run shift reports directly from Square Terminal and Square Handheld devices. This allows team members to view shift summaries and close-of-day totals without returning to the main POS or Square Dashboard.
Standardized page headers across Square Banking
Page headers across Square Banking now have a consistent design. The updated headers apply to all Banking pages, bringing a uniform look and feel to navigation.
Square Register (2nd generation)
Introducing the next generation of Square Register, the powerful countertop point-of-sale system with two responsive touchscreens. A faster, more powerful processor supports complex operations during peak hours. An upgraded antenna delivers more reliable connectivity. And a new, durable design is built to stand up to splashes and dust.
Details
Accept Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Afterpay at booking
Let clients pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Afterpay when they book so you capture more bookings and reduce no-shows. Fast wallets and buy-now-pay-later options make it easier for clients—especially for higher‑ticket beauty services—to commit at checkout. Payments post to your account like any other booking payment, so you spend less time chasing payments and more time serving clients.
Adjust pickup times
Change pickup times for orders placed on ordering profiles directly from Square Point of Sale so your team can update pickup windows without switching systems. Updating times on the fly helps prevent missed pickups, reduce customer wait, and keep orders moving during busy periods.
Automatic cash rounding
Square Point of Sale automatically rounds cash transactions to the nearest $0.05 so you don’t need pennies at the register. This reduces checkout time, simplifies cash handling, and keeps your drawer and reconciliation cleaner as the US phases out the penny.
Automatic ticket numbers
Automatically assign ticket numbers to every open order across POS, KDS, and order screens so orders are tracked and visible the moment they’re created. This speeds order entry, clarifies handoffs between front and back of house, and reduces missed or duplicate tickets.
Control menu list order
Reorder your menu lists across Square Point of Sale, online ordering, and other channels so customers see items in the order you choose. Consistent menu order helps you highlight best-sellers, seasonal items, and promotions to increase average ticket and reduce customer confusion. Changes publish instantly across channels so you can react quickly to stock, specials, or service needs.
Corporate SSO: Sign in with your company identity
Use your company identity provider—such as Okta or Entra ID—to sign in to and manage access to your Square account. Centralized single sign-on and user provisioning reduce manual setup, speed onboarding and offboarding, and help you meet enterprise security and compliance needs. That means less IT overhead and safer access as your business scales.
