Square for Restaurants Pricing

The Square for Restaurants monthly subscription cost is determined by the number of active locations and devices running the Restaurants POS app.

Locations & Devices

For each location accessing Square for Restaurants, there is a $60 subscription fee—charged on the first of every month. Use of Square for Restaurants is included on your first device at each location, and it costs $40 per month for each additional device (per location).

You can manage your device settings and subscriptions from your online Square Dashboard.

Here are some examples of the billing structure with Square for Restaurants.

2 Locations 2 devices on the Square for Restaurants App at one location, 1 device on Square for Restaurants at the other location. $60 x 2 + $40 = $160
2 Locations 2 devices on Square for Restaurants App at each location. $60 x 2 + $40 x 2 = $200

Processing Fee

When you swipe, dip, or tap a customer’s card through the Square for Restaurants app, your processing fee will be 2.6% + $0.10 per transaction. For all other types of transactions (such as manually keyed-in payments), you’ll pay Square’s standard processing fee.

It’s important to note, the rate of 2.6% + $0.10 for card-present transactions is only for payments processed through the Restaurants POS app.

Also, if your subscription lapses or you unsubscribe from Square for Restaurants, you can still utilize the Square POS app to process payments, but your processing fee will return to the standard 2.75%.
