We service the areas of Chelsea, SoHo, and Williamsburg. Currently we have 85 staff members across three locations.

We started using Square Appointments when we opened the salon and we saw how it worked. We adopted Square Appointments into the tattoo shop.
It organizes all of our available slots in a visual way, so our customers can see when the best times to come in are.
It also helps us to have visibility on what our day looks like.
When you’re working as an artist, or a tattooer, or a piercer, they live and die by their appointment book.
It’s a great indicator of what their day is going to be like
when they look at how many available slots they have and how some walk-ins are going to fill in those slots.
It even gives them the ability to know what their potential earning is going to be that month.
Through Square Messages, we’re able to get exactly our client’s visions
and have our practitioners be able to directly communicate with those customers
without having to give up their personal cell phone numbers or their personal emails.
It’s another great channel for our staff and our customers to make these ideas into realities.
We use Square Marketing and it’s a great, easy way to connect with our customers and let them know what’s happening at Live By The Sword.
And, the great thing about it is the visibility that it provides you.
It lets us know how many opens the email got, how many clicks it got, how many sales you got from that particular mailer, and what your gross sales were.
It gives you a way to evaluate your promotions and your messaging to your customers by seeing results and metrics
which wouldn’t be available to you with a lot of other means, especially for a brick-and-mortar business.
Live By The Sword uses Square Payroll as our payroll provider.
Since it’s fully integrated into our point-of-sale system, it allows us to import all of the tips that our employees make and our contractors.
It also gives us commission reporting and sales reporting, so we can quickly figure out what all of our practitioners earned in a given pay period,
as opposed to using multiple platforms to get that information and to make those calculations.
So, everything is within the Square platform, no need for Excels, no need to do anything outside of Square.

whether it be your hair, your piercings, your tattoos, and that is the common thread of the entire Live By The Sword ecosystem.

Because, sometimes people settle on tattoos and things they don’t want exactly ‘cause it’s more in their price point.
Afterpay makes it so you don’t have to compromise your vision when getting tattooed.
Today we have a 4,000- square- foot location.
Square Tterminal has helped us to empower each one of our staff members,
so they would have all the information that they need in the palm of their hand with one device.
We wanted to be able to utilize them to get as many guests into the seats,
and have the tattoo artists or the piercers check people out on the terminals right at their station, after the tattoo is completed.
Square Team Management helps us to set all of our permissions
to make sure each user is seeing only the portions of Square that we need them to see. So that helps us with security.
But Square Team Management also, since it’s on the same platform as Square Appointments and Square Payroll,
it’s easy to onboard new employees right into the system. And as soon as we add them on, it sends them a welcome email.
They can enter all of their information, and all of the paperwork is done, all digitally, which makes it super easy to use.
We actually don’t have a formal square training for our tattoo artists, piercers, or hairdressers.
We just sort of guide them through and they pick it up very intuitively.
It’s a very easy to use product. Plug and play.
We look at Square like our development house. But we don’t have to ever tell them anything.
They already know exactly what to build for us without us asking for it.

My name is Dominick Lewis. I’m the owner of Photodom, an analogue camera store based in Brooklyn, New York.
My role at Photodom is a little bit of everything. I’m either working in the lab, or sometimes in the store
sometimes repairing cameras, working with the marketing team, or handling customer service — so, it’s a little bit of everything.

The best thing is that it’s built into it, so people can insert their chips directly on the POS rather than an additional piece.
I like that. It’s more streamlined. It’s smaller.
I like that it’s backwards compatible, ‘cause I can still use my same old iPad. I don’t have to get a new iPad for it.
Square POS is really helpful with updating inventory because we can actually add inventory right on the POS
and that updates to our website, so that way everything’s kind of integrated. We don’t have to go to the website
and the POS and update both. It’s just one or the other, which is super helpful.
Before we had this film processor, we were only able to process maybe 20, 30 rolls a day because we were processing it all by hand.
But with the help of Square, I was able to purchase this film processor that can do 30 rolls an hour.
And the film scanner was a really expensive piece of equipment, so just getting those two pieces of equipment really made us a legitimate
business and really allowed us to have the same quality as everyone else — if not better.
It allows you to dictate how much money you want to pay back at a time.
Square is cool because it takes out a certain percentage of your sales per day, so you can choose anything between 5% to 12% of your sales.
And that really helps with paying back your loans because you’re not using your outside money, you’re using money you just acquired.
We’ve been able to do it three or four times, and it’s really helped us grow our business vertically.
