FAQ

  • What are enterprise payments?

Enterprise payments are payment systems built for larger sellers with higher volume, multiple locations, complex reporting needs, and technical teams. Square supports enterprise payments across in-person, online, in-app, invoice, and keyed-in channels. You can connect payments to POS, customer data, items, team permissions, and reporting in one platform.

  • Can Square handle multi-location payments?

Yes, Square supports payments across multiple locations with centralized reporting and location-level controls. Sellers can manage checkout, refunds, team access, item data, and performance insights from Square Dashboard. Use Square analytics to track sales and payment trends across the business.

  • Which payment methods does Square support?

Square supports tap, dip, swipe, manual entry, card on file, online payments, ACH transfers, Cash App Pay, Afterpay, and major digital wallets. Digital wallet support includes Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay where available. ACH payments can be used with secure invoices through ACH payments.

  • Does Square offer custom enterprise pricing?

Yes, eligible high-volume sellers can talk to Square about custom pricing through Square Pro. The sellers processing over $250,000 per year can ask about custom pricing, processing fees, hardware discounts, onboarding and implementation support, technical specialists, and account management. Contact sales to review fit and requirements.

  • Can developers build custom payment flows?

Yes, developers can build custom payment flows with Square APIs and SDKs. The Payments API, Web Payments SDK, Mobile Payments SDK, Terminal API, and Checkout API support online, in-app, in-person, and hosted checkout workflows. These tools help technical teams connect payments to orders, customers, reporting, and internal systems.

  • Is Square PCI compliant?

We are PCI certified and you don't have to individually validate your compliance. Square also includes end-to-end encrypted payments and active fraud prevention. This helps reduce the operational burden of payment security for larger teams.

  • Can Square process payments without internet?

Yes, eligible Square in-person payment tools support offline payments. For Square Reader for contactless and chip, offline payments can let sellers keep taking payments, subject to terms. This is useful for events, service routes, busy floors, and locations with unreliable connectivity.

  • Can Square replace separate POS and payment systems?

Square can help consolidate payments with POS, online checkout, invoices, customer data, inventory, staff, and analytics. That reduces the need to manage separate tools for everyday commerce workflows. Larger sellers can also use APIs to connect Square payments with existing systems when a full replacement is not the right path.

  • Does Square support international cards?

Square works with US-issued and most internationally issued magstripe or chip cards for US sellers. Square Point of Sale does not support charging customers in different currencies, and sellers must process payments in the country where the account was activated. This makes Square a strong fit for US operations that need to accept many card types without managing multi-currency checkout in POS.
