Why Was My Application To Pay Using Square Installments Declined?
Article Contents
Did applying for Square Installments affect my credit score? Where can I learn more about my credit report? Where can I read more online about my credit score and report?
Eligibility is based on a variety of factors. After you apply for Square Installments, your application goes through a check to determine your qualification for a loan. Details on why your request was declined can be found in the email you received explaining why we are unable to offer Square Installments at this time.
We understand being declined for eligibility can be tough, and so we’d like to make an effort to give you more information about this process. Please know that all applications for Square Installments are considered on a case-by-case basis, based off of our approval requirements. Please also know that this does not prevent you from applying for Square Installments in the future. Generally, an applicant can be declined for various reasons including, but are not limited to, limits on the number of plans through Square Installments you currently have open, whether or not we are able to verify your identity, certain factors that may affect your credit score, and a review of public records. Not all of these may apply to the specific reason your application was declined.
Did applying for Square Installments affect my credit score?
No. Your credit score may only be affected if you actually accept Square Installments. For everything else before that point, including when you check if you are eligible for a plan, your credit score will not be affected.
Where can I learn more about my credit report?
It is possible that your request for Square Installments was declined based on information in your credit report. If this is the case (please see the adverse action notice you received), our eligibility decision would have been informed by Experian, the consumer reporting agency that issued your credit report.
