In the past, we’ve partnered with the likes of the Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin and the Global Festival in New York City as their official points of sale, so that festival-goers don’t need cash — and festival vendors can make every sale. And today, we’re excited to share that we’ll be the exclusive point of sale for all 2015 Coachella vendors. That’s right — you won’t need to withdraw any cash there this year.
As we count down to the festival, we thought we’d write up some tips for making the most out of Coachella. Here’s what we’ve got:
Bring your cards
To reiterate — you don’t need to stuff your cutoffs (or fedora) with cash. You can just swipe your credit card at a Square Stand or Reader for purchases large and small at all the beer tents, food vendors, and merch stands. This means you can save space in your fanny pack for more important things like sunscreen to protect your neck and a phone charger to stay connected.
Split the bill
Need to pay back your buddy for that Airbnb or round of beers? Square Cash is where it’s at. Make sure to download the app before festival time — allowing you to quickly send money to friends (free). You can even secure your own $Cashtag, which will let anyone pay you through the Square Cash app without entering your email or phone number.
Prep for the food
This year’s Coachella food roster is as intriguing as the music lineup, with epicurean delights expertly curated by Goldenvoice (including some of our favorite Square sellers). But to get in on the good stuff, you’ll want to plan ahead. Book a seat at the Outstanding in the Field series (which features meals from chefs like Bruce Kalman, Ricardo Zarate, and Tin Vuong) and for VIP tasting menus ($50) in advance. And be sure to check out the full food offerings to plan the rest of your culinary flight path.
And thanks to Square, you won’t need cash at any of these vendors. Have fun out there, kids.
