What’s new at Square – September 2024

Our team is constantly working on new features and updates to make it easier for you to run your business. Here’s a quick round up of some key ones that have launched over the past few months.

Custom booking fields for appointments

To help you collect buyer data that typically doesn’t change, Square Appointments Plus and Premium now lets you ask custom questions such as your customer’s birthday, and ‘how did you hear about us?’. Set up Custom Booking Fields in your Customer Directory, and then add them into your Online Booking settings.

Get your invoices paid with Tap to Pay on iPhone

Now you can accept a payment for your invoice right on your iPhone. Square Invoices users can now choose Tap to Pay on iPhone as the payment method for their invoice, allowing you to accept payments in-person without any additional hardware. Find out more here.

Request a document review for new hire onboarding

Square Staff is expanding the new hire onboarding feature to add tasks such as documents that new team members need to review, as well as requesting documents, such as copies of identification in their onboarding checklist. Available for Shifts Plus subscribers.

Easily transfer stock

Create, edit and track transfers across stores more comprehensively and accurately than ever before with Square for Retail Plus. Move inventory in stages and maintain inventory accuracy at all locations by tracking inventory that’s ‘in transit’, and receive inventory on Dashboard and your POS. Plus, you can now scan in items you want to transfer with a barcode scanner.

Simple Cost of Good Sold Reporting

We’re making it easier to track cost reporting for hospitality sellers. Square for Restaurants Plus sellers can now enter the unit cost and vendor for menu items on Square Dashboard without needing to have Inventory tracking enabled. This will allow them to track their revenue, profit, and margin via the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) report, along with access to stock history and vendor management on Dashboard.
