Make sure your employees have all the information they need to successfully accept credit and debit card payments with Square, even if you’re not there.
- Train staff in all the possible ways a customer may pay you. This includes accepting a contactless payment via card, accepting a mobile wallet (such as Apple Pay or Android Pay), dipping or swiping a payment card, manually entering a payment card details, or acepting other tender types.
- Practice every type of payment you’re accepting with your employees by tapping, dipping or swiping your own card. Remember that you can refund any test payments that you process while practicing refunds with employees.
- Give your team resources to troubleshoot payments and make sure they know to consult the Square Support Centre if they encounter any issues while you’re not there. Print out these payment troubleshooting tips to leave by the cash register at your business.
- Include a Square tip at your weekly meeting or start-of-shift meeting with your core team, to help keep your employees educated. You can use tips from the Town Square Blog.
