Buying in-store lets you get set up quickly and start taking payments without waiting for delivery or dealing with lengthy approval processes common with traditional EFTPOS providers. Square Register requires an internet connection. Connect Square Register to the internet through a Wi-Fi network or Ethernet connection. No Wi-Fi? You can use offline payments²  to keep taking payments for up to 24 hours. Additional terms apply.

Yes, Square Register can accept Square gift cards using a compatible 2D barcode scanner (sold separately) and prepaid gift cards with a chip.

Square Register accepts all major payment types, including eftpos, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and JCB cards. Customers can tap, insert or swipe (where supported), and can also pay using mobile wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay. Afterpay is available for in-person instalment payments, and you can also process keyed-in, invoice and online payments through your Square account.
