Set required-break rules in the Square Dashboard or Square app. Set a break after a set number of hours or for shifts longer than a specified length. When a break is missed, managers see alerts and the missed break is flagged on the employee’s timecard so you can follow up and correct records before payroll.

Putting breaks on autopilot helps you enforce consistent policies across shifts and locations, supporting staff health and reducing compliance risk. Combined with scheduling and timecard features, Required Breaks makes it simpler to spot patterns, coach teams and run payroll with confidence.
