Feature log
All the things we’ve updated
Advanced rules for manual discounts
Manual discounts support advanced rules including category targeting, BOGO conditions, and conditional logic. These rule types, previously limited to automatic discounts, can be configured when creating or editing any manual discount.
Automatic discounts on web and app-based ordering
Automatic discounts display and apply across menu, item, and cart views in web and app-based ordering. Sellers configure discount rules (percentage off, dollar off, buy one get one free, or time-windowed promotions) once, and eligible discounts apply at checkout without manual intervention.
Bar tabs and pre-authorisation in Standard mode
Food and beverage sellers using Square Point of Sale in Standard mode can open bar tabs with card pre-authorisation. When a customer opens a tab, POS places a hold on their card and releases or adjusts the final amount when the tab is closed.
Cash App Pay QR code removed from customer-facing displays
The automatic Cash App Pay QR code no longer appears on the customer-facing display of Square Register or Square Stand. Cash App Pay remains available as a payment method when selected as a tender during checkout, at which point customers can scan and pay as usual.
Compact ticket mode and font size settings for printed tickets
You can customise printed ticket density and font size on both iOS and Android. Compact ticket mode tightens spacing to fit sticky labels and reduce paper usage. Font size options let you adjust text readability for kitchen staff. These settings apply to tickets printed from Square Point of Sale, including online orders.
Delegate Authorised Representative profile management
Team members with the Team Management permission can edit all staff profiles, including Authorised Representative profiles. Account owners can delegate day-to-day staff management without needing to make those changes themselves.
DoorDash integration available in Australia
Food & Beverage sellers in Australia can connect their DoorDash account directly from Square Dashboard. DoorDash orders appear alongside other orders in your Square Point of Sale and Dashboard, with menu sync and consolidated reporting across channels.
Group individual orders into a single kitchen ticket
Group ordering lets multiple customers in the same group place individual orders that combine into a single kitchen ticket. Each customer pays individually while the kitchen receives one combined ticket per group.
Pick-up, delivery, and dine-in fulfilment flows on POS
Square Point of Sale for Food & Beverage supports structured fulfilment workflows for pickup, delivery, and dine-in orders. You can capture recipient name, phone number, and address in the cart, and those details print on kitchen dockets and receipts. Paid POS orders appear in Order Manager with status tracking and the ability to text diners when their order is ready.
Popular items section on your online menu
A "Popular items" section appears at the top of your online menu, surfacing your best-selling items based on order history. The section updates automatically as sales patterns change. You can turn it on or off in Online settings.
Real-time Check View for F&B modes (open beta)
Real Time Check View displays a live cart alongside the item configuration screen in all Food & Beverage POS modes. As you add or edit modifiers, quantities, and prices, the cart updates in place without requiring a screen switch. You can also multi-select cart items to perform bulk actions like comp, void, move, or remove.
Service-level deposit settings for appointments
You can require deposits on a per-service basis when clients book appointments. Each service in your catalogue has its own deposit policy and amount, so higher-value or longer services can carry different deposit requirements than shorter ones. Deposits help protect against no-shows by collecting partial payment at the time of booking.
Ship with UPS directly from Square Dashboard
You can create a UPS account and purchase UPS shipping labels directly from Square Dashboard at discounted rates. No separate UPS account or third-party integration is required.
Tax percentage overrides by location for online sales
You can define tax percentage overrides by country, state, or postcode for online sales through Online Ordering Profiles and Square Online. These seller-defined rates apply at checkout based on the buyer's location.
Time-based availability for menu groups on Square Online
Square Online supports time-based availability at the menu group level, not just the menu level. Within a single menu, you can set hours for specific menu groups for easier dayparting (e.g., lunch versus dinner service) or time-based specials like happy hour and limited-time offers. If you use time-based categories such as "Lunch" or "Happy Hour," they display on your Square Online site according to their scheduled hours without requiring separate menus for each time window.
Uber Eats integration available in Australia, UK and Canada
Food & Beverage sellers in Australia, the UK and Canada can connect their Uber Eats account directly from Square Dashboard at no additional cost. The integration syncs your menu, routes incoming Uber Eats orders to your KDS or POS, and includes delivery order data in your Square reporting.
Faster order syncing across devices
Orders now sync between devices significantly faster, reducing the time it takes for new and updated orders to appear across your setup. The improvement is most noticeable in multi-device environments or locations using pick-up workflows. This applies to all device platforms.
Full inventory counts on Square Terminal and Android devices
You can now carry out full physical stocktakes directly on Square Terminal, Consumer Android and X2 devices. Scan items, reconcile quantities and finalise counts without needing a separate device. This feature is available in open beta starting with version 7.4 for Square for Retail Plus sellers, accessible from the inventory applet.
Item availability and inventory status in Item Library
Your Item Library on Square Dashboard now displays availability status pills so you can see at a glance which items are available, sold out or hidden. Clicking a pill opens a popover that lets you update item availability and inventory directly from the same page.
Menu editing enforces team member location permissions
Menu editing actions now enforce team member location permissions. When a team member has access to specific locations, they can only edit menus and run bulk actions for those locations. This applies to actions like assigning modifier sets, updating price overrides, and creating items within menus.
View price and margin in the POS inventory applet
Price and profit margin columns now appear in the inventory receive flow and the stock overview items page within the inventory applet on Square Point of Sale. Both columns are view-only. This feature is available with Square Plus.
Assign modifier sets to specific sales channels from your Square Dashboard
You can now control which sales channels display each modifier set from Square Dashboard. When editing a modifier set, select the channels where it should appear, such as POS, Square Online, or third-party delivery platforms. This lets you show different modifier options depending on the ordering channel.

Automatic card surcharging now applies to bar tab payments
Automatic Card Surcharging (ACS) now works with pre-authorised card payments, including bar tabs. When a customer's credit card is pre-authorised to open a tab, the surcharge is calculated and applied when the final payment is captured at tab close. Previously, ACS did not apply surcharges to pre-authorised payment flows.
Edit team member on closed orders
You can now change the assigned team member on a closed order. This allows you to correct team member attribution after an order is completed, ensuring accurate tip and commission records.

Offline payments enabled by default for all sellers
Offline payments are now turned on by default, allowing your Square Point of Sale to accept card payments during network or Square outages. You can adjust offline payment settings or disable the feature from your POS device settings. Offline transactions are processed once connectivity is restored, and declined transactions remain the seller's responsibility.
