Table of contents
Our developers are constantly working on new features and updates to make it easier for you to run your business. Here’s a quick round up of some key ones that have launched over the past few months.
Split by seats
For Square for Restaurants Plus or Premium subscribers, you can not only assign items to individual seat positions, but you can also now split each seat out into separate bills. For any items assigned to the table or that you’d like to further move, you can still move them between split bills.
SevenRooms integration
Australian hospitality operators can now integrate SevenRooms with Square for Restaurants. Similar to previously available integrations with OpenTable and Now Book It, by connecting POS and reservation platforms, you can deliver a more personalised service, with guest details and information at your fingertips. You can also leverage real-time and historical spending data to drive higher spending per visit and repeat business, and front-of-house teams can enjoy real-time visibility over table availability. For instructions on how to set up the integration, please check our support article.
Auto Write Item Descriptions
Stuck writing descriptions for your products? Now you can automatically generate descriptions based on the name, a few keywords, length, and tone. Don’t like what is generated? You can always go again, and modify it to suit your business’s needs. This is available to all users via Square Dashboard.
Block from booking
Do you have customers who constantly cancel? You can now block customers from booking online in Square Appointments. Your customer will see an error if they try to book an appointment with you (but won’t know that they are specifically blocked).
Printable calendar
Easily access a printer-friendly version of your calendar and bookings – handy for those who want to post one in a central location for all staff to see. Available for Square Appointments users.
Auto card surcharging beta
Easily and accurately pass on processing fees associated with card payments with Square’s automatic card surcharge beta. The card surcharge will be automatically applied during checkout when a customer pays with a card or digital wallet, so it’s always transparent. This is available on Square Point of Sale, Square for Restaurants, and Square for Retail apps on compatible iOS devices, Android devices, Square Terminal, and Square Register.
Item Age Verification
Run a bottle shop? You can now set age restriction rules on specific products in your catalogue that require a legal age to purchase. When the item is added to the cart, your employee will be prompted to enter the buyer’s date of birth from their government-issued ID to verify they are the correct age. Available now on Square for Retail.
