October is the perfect month to declutter, while squeezing in a bit of much-needed personal shopping before the busy holiday season kicks in. For the second year in a row, we’ve partnered with the Garage Sale Trail, a national weekend of garage sales that attracts over 350,000 shoppers vying for secondhand wares in towns and cities all across Australia.

If you’re headed out on the trail, save your cash and pay by card — we’re helping to bring credit and debit card acceptance to as many sellers as possible, so you can spend a little more at some of the year’s quirkiest and most fun garage sales.

With so much to shop for, it’s best to make a plan. To help you get started, we’ve compiled our own must-see list. Here are our top five garage sales to check out on this year’s trail:

Woodville Croquet Club

Koolunda Avenue, Woodville South, South Australia
“Fundraising for the Woodville Croquet Club — come grab a bargain and have a hit!”

If you’re looking for variety, we recommend visiting the Woodville Croquet Club’s garage sale. They’re offering a wide mix of items from homewares to furniture, and vintage clothes to garden tools. The greater the variety, the more likely you are to find that one-of-a-kind item.

Jaybats Clutter Buster

Pether Road, Manning, Western Australia
“Well we have a lot of clutter. There’s so much it makes us mutter. There is stuff of every kind, you may love something you find…”

Another sale with great variety is the Jaybats Clutter Buster, where you can pick up antiques, sporting goods and vinyl records and lots of other treasures, all in the one place.

Will from The Bachelorette’s Fiancee Is Making Him Get Rid of All His Stuff

Matlock Street, Mount Hawthorn, Western Australia
“Come meet a reality TV personality in the flesh and take home a souvenir of your brush with fame. Discover what possessions are facing elimination as a result of the union of two people and the need to fit all their things under one roof.”

Celebrity? Check. Opportunity to peek into the life of a Bachelorette contestant? Check. I’ll see you there! Head to Will’s for a range of goodies such as designer and vintage fashion, sporting goods, homewares and more.

Timepiece Clocks

Yanchep Beach Road, Yanchep, Western Australia
“I’m selling my clock collection because I have too much time on my hands.”

If you’re on the lookout for antique and collectible watches, Dave Scott’s garage sale is the place to go.

Nauti By Name

Parramatta Road, Stanmore, New South Wales
“Come to our sale for a sneak peek inside Nauti Studios, home to photographers, designers, musicians, producers, costume designer and more … We’re throwing open the doors to our studio for a meet-the-artist, snaffle-a-bargain and see-the-beautiful-things day of celebration!”

Visit the super-eclectic Nauti Studios garage sale for a game of ping-pong, free popcorn and amazing goods from a wide range of artists.

That’s just a small sampling of the amazing sellers taking part in this year’s event. With over 10,000 sellers gearing up, there should be no shortage of good finds and fun.

The Garage Sale Trail will run on Saturday, 21 October, and Sunday, 22 October. If you’re running a sale and you’re not set up to accept card payments yet, make sure you head to our online store and order your Square Reader for contactless and chip today.
