Square Reader allows you to accept tap-and-go cards, digital wallet services on mobile devices (such as Apple Pay and Android Pay) and chip cards. It uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to connect wirelessly to your smartphone or tablet device, meaning you can take payments anywhere your customers are. Square Reader setup is simple, so you can start taking secure payments right away.
If you’re also using Square Stand, your Square Reader can connect via USB. This can be a great solution if your business operates in an area with a lot of wireless interference such as microwave ovens, cordless phones or fluorescent lights.
The Square Reader is compatible with most Apple or Android tablets and smartphones that have BLE built in. If you’ve bought a new device in the last few years, it’s more than likely to have BLE, which is fantastic because it helps maintain a longer battery life (meaning more transactions through Square Reader and less frequent charging).
