Customize self-serve ordering with Square Kiosk

    Customers can place orders at your Square Kiosk from the selection of items you add to your kiosk menu. You can customize the self-serve ordering experience by adjusting your Square Kiosk settings such as checkout options, order-ready notifications, and adding a theme or logo to your kiosk menu.   

    Before you begin

    You will need to Set up Square Kiosk hardware prior to the steps below. It is recommended that you also Set up Square Kiosk app and prepare your menu items and categories for Square Kiosk. Learn how to Add menu items and categories to Square Kiosk.

    Important information for alcohol sellers: Square Kiosk cannot verify age as part of the customer purchase process at this time. Please refer to our feedback survey to request this feature and share your experience with Square Kiosk.

    If you are using Square’s other self-serve ordering features–such as QR code ordering with Square Online–keep in mind that your ordering hours for Square Kiosk and ordering hours with QR codes will remain the same.

    The steps outlined below require you to sign into your Square account through the Square Dashboard. 

    Customize your kiosk welcome screen 

    You can customize your customer’s kiosk experience and the look of your welcome screen with preferred colors, background image, and logo.

    1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard.
    2. Click Device Management > Kiosk.
    3. Select Customize kiosk theme.

    From here you can change the site style, preferred colors, and upload a logo to appear on your menu.

    When selecting a background image or logo, keep in mind the maximum dimensions required for Square Kiosk:

    • Background images can be up to 180 pixels wide and 40 pixels tall, and up to 5 MB.
    • Logos can be up to 150 pixels tall and up to 5 MB.

    1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard.
    2. Click Device Management > Kiosk.
    3. Select Customize kiosk welcome screen > Background image.
    4. Choose the image you want to display on your kiosk welcome screen and upload.
    5. Click Save.

    Edit your kiosk device profile settings

    Customizable kiosk settings include tip options, dining options, gift card acceptance, loyalty programs, and sending Order-ready texts.

    1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard.
    2. Click Device Management > Kiosk.
    3. Select Edit Kiosk Settings.
    4. Click on the kiosk device profile you want to edit.
    5. Select your preferred settings, including tip options, dining options, gift card acceptance, loyalty, and sending Order-ready texts.

    Enable Order-ready texts

    You can set up Order-ready texts to notify diners when their order is ready to go.

    1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard.
    2. Click Device Management > Kiosk.
    3. Click Manage kiosk devices and then click the kiosk to open the Edit Device screen.
    4. Under Order-ready texts toggle ON collect phone number upon tapping pay.
    5. Click Save.
