  • About Square Kiosk app

When Square Kiosk hardware is paired with the Square Kiosk app, it creates a self-serve ordering solution that empowers customers to place orders and complete payments independently.

    Before you begin

We recommend you set up your Square Kiosk hardware, menu items, and item categories before you set up your Square Kiosk app.

The Square Kiosk onboarding guide in your Square Dashboard will walk you through the following initial steps:

    • Download the Square Kiosk app

    • Select your Kiosk menu categories and items

    • Create a device code to sign in

To sign in to the Kiosk app for the first time, you need to create a device code through the Square Kiosk onboarding guide. After you set up your first Kiosk, you can set up device codes for additional Kiosk devices. Learn how to set up device codes.

Square Kiosk is available to sellers with a Square Plus or Premium subscription for an additional monthly fee per device. It is not available for sellers with a Square Free subscription.

Sign in to the Kiosk app

    1. Open the Square Kiosk app and sign in with a 12-digit device code.

If your device code has expired, create a new code:.

    1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Settings > Device management.

    2. Click Select the Kiosk Device > Reset Device Code. This new 12-digit code can be used to sign into the Kiosk.

Sign out of the Kiosk app

Press the Get Started screen with two fingertips for 5 seconds, and you’ll be prompted for the owner passcode to access device settings and sign out.

    Set up Guided Access

Guided Access will allow you to “lock” the Square Kiosk app on your iPad and prevent customers from closing the app while the Kiosk is operating.

    1. On your iPad’s settings app, go to Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access.

    2. Make sure the Guided Access toggle is turned ON.
