Delhi Streets takes the best of India’s street food and brings it to Melbourne’s Central Business District in a vibrant atmosphere reminiscent of an Indian market. Owner Charan Singh isn’t always onsite, so he relies on the Square Dashboard app to track sales on the go. “I will check my business reporting three to five times a day with the app,” he says. “When I’m on the road I check in hourly to work out when my peak periods are and use this data to assess inventory and staffing and to sell more items to customers.”

Charan also uses the Sales Comparison charts in Square Dashboard to help manage his team. “These reports give me the information to initiate conversations with staff about how we can improve customer service and push weekly specials,” he says.

At Heal.Thy Self Co. in Melbourne’s Yarraville neighbourhood, owner Electra Tomasino has created a constantly evolving menu packed with smoothies, juices, meals and snacks made with lots of organic fruits and vegetables. She relies on analytics to help her keep a close eye on what’s coming in, what’s fresh, and what she needs to order.
“Our business is focused on fresh, seasonal produce,” says Electra. “Using reports from Square means we can easily make calculated decisions about menu changes and prepare for the busier summer period ahead.”

Food and beverage business owners aren’t the only ones who can benefit from keeping their eyes on analytics. The DEA Store in the Redfern neighbourhood of Sydney sells eclectic on-trend objects for the home, sourced from all over the world. Owner Karin Huchatz uses the Sales Trends reports in Square Dashboard to quickly assess and respond to sales. “Seeing the hot sellers allows me to organise my stock swiftly, so that I can react quickly to a trend,” she says.

With a growing team, Karin also uses the reports in her Dashboard to monitor customer feedback and report back to her employees. “If a customer leaves great feedback, I call my staff at the end of the day and let them know what a great job they’re doing. Positively reinforcing a job well done leads to happier and more productive staff and a better work environment all around.”
