Is Square Appointments right for my business?
Square Appointments is built to work with businesses of any size looking for a scheduling and point-of-sale system, including independent hairdressers, barbershops with multiple staff, photographers on the go and other service professionals who book their time. If you use Timely, Kitomba, Shortcuts or Acuity Scheduling, Square Appointments will likely fit more of your needs with our easy-to-use interface.

What features are included with Square Appointments?
All our features are included with every account, whether you are on the free tier for individuals or paying a monthly fee for your added staff members. These include an online booking site, customer reminders, cancellation and no-show fees, Card on File, customer profiles, individual employee accounts and many more.

What hardware or equipment will I need?
You can use Square Appointments on any desktop, tablet or smartphone using a web browser or the Square Appointments app, available in the App Store or Google Play. We recommend using it with an iPad and Square Stand for the best customer checkout experience. Note: At this time, Square Terminal does not support the Square Appointments app, but we plan to add this capability soon.

Can I add booking with Square Appointments to my existing website?
Yes! If you already have a website, you can drag and drop an online booking flow using our widget or even create a booking button for your site. If you don’t have a website, you can still use your free online booking site or create a Square Online site.


Getting started

How do I get started with Square Appointments?
You can get started with Square Appointments by creating a Square account and heading to the Appointments section of your online Square Dashboard. Create staff, add services and set up your online booking site. Square Appointments is free for individuals, and when you create a staff member, you’ll begin your free 30-day trial.

How do I switch from Square Point of Sale to Square Appointments?
You can switch from Square Point of Sale to Square Appointments by creating your Appointments account here. You’ll be able to use your existing features and setup. The only new setup will be for added functionality included with your Appointments account, such as your services and online booking site.

How can I switch from my current solution?
You can bulk import your customer list and inventory list to quickly get up and running with Square Appointments.

How long does it take to get trained?
Square Appointments is so intuitive, there’s no training required. Really.

How long will it take to set up my account?
Getting set up to accept bookings and card payments on Square only takes a few minutes. You can set up additional services and items as you see fit to take advantage of our entire suite of products.

What if I have a question about setting up Square Appointments?
Our highly trained support team is available via phone, email or chat. You can also learn from our Seller Community, or visit the Support Centre 24/7 to find useful tips, articles and thorough video walkthroughs.


Pricing and fees

How much does Square Appointments cost?
Pricing for Square Appointments is based on the number of staff you have associated with your account. If you’re using Square Appointments as an individual, there is no monthly subscription fee. There is no extra fee for using Appointments with multiple locations. Visit our pricing page to learn more.

What are the payment processing fees?
The processing rate is 1.6% per tap or dip on Square Terminal or 1.9% per tap on or insert into Square Reader and Square Stand (Visa, Mastercard, eftpos, American Express, international credit cards, Apple Pay or Google Pay).

Are there any hidden fees I should be aware of?
Nope. There are no long-term contracts, startup fees, authorisation fees, statement fees, refund fees, PCI-compliance fees or business card fees. Just pay when you use it. That’s it.

What cards can I accept with Square Appointments? Does the fee I pay vary by card?
You can accept every major card – Visa, Mastercard, eftpos and American Express – all for the same rate.


Payments and protection

What methods of payment can my customers use?
You can accept cards, cash, cheques and gift cards.

How do I take a payment with Square?
You can easily accept payments with Square hardware connected to your phone or tablet, through digital invoices or through your computer.

How quickly can I access my funds?
Payments are sent to your linked bank account following our standard transfer schedule. If you accept transactions after 12.00 a.m. Melbourne time, set your close of day time after your business’s closing time to make sure you receive a single transfer for a full day’s business activity. A close of day after 12.00 a.m. will delay your transfer by one business day. Learn more about your transfer schedule options.

What does Square do to help with fraud protection?
Our systems monitor your payments to keep an eye on suspicious transactions. Machine learning and human expertise work hand in hand to adapt our technology to the shifting fraud landscape every day. And our team of fraud experts gets in touch with you if we notice anything unusual.


Compatibility

Does the app work with my iPhone, iPad or Android device?
Yes, it does.

Does Square Appointments connect to printers or other hardware?
Yes, Square works with multiple printers and many other checkout accessories. For a full list of hardware accessories, check out our shop.

Can I manage my inventory from my point of sale?
Square inventory management lets you keep a clear count of in-stock items in your item library. With inventory enabled, the stock count updates based on sales from the Square app, through Square Invoices and for orders shipped through your online store.

Can I sell online with Square Appointments?
Square Online powers your online business with heaps of eCommerce features. Square automatically syncs across your online store and POS, so it’s easy to keep track of orders, items and inventory.

Does Square Appointments work with my existing business tools and services?
