Square Online Item Settings

Displaying a notice on items that are on sale, low in stock, or sold out can improve the shopping experience for your customers and generate more sales.

You can find these settings on your dashboard on the Settings > General page. There are three options that you can use in any combination you like. Click the toggles to turn them on or off.

You won’t see any changes on your website unless you have at least one item that meets one of the following criteria:

  • Has a sale price

  • Has an inventory count of 5 or less

  • Is sold out

These settings are global, so if you don’t want the low in stock banner to display for certain items (for example, items that are one of a kind) then you may want to turn that setting off.

Note: The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) prohibits misleading “former price comparisons.” If you advertise or promote item(s) at a discounted price, it’s your responsibility to ensure you’re meeting the FTC’s guidelines. We recommend consulting a legal expert if you have questions about the FTC’s guidelines.
