Square Online Item Preferences

Square Online includes several options to customize how items display on your website and how you can manage them in your account. You can access these options from your Square Online Overview page in Dashboard.

Status Badges

Note: Display additional item status badges by upgrading your Square Online subscription.

You can display badges on your items in Square Online that show your customers stock, sale and other critical item information at a glance. Learn more about item status badges for Square Online items.

Stock Settings

As you manage item stock in Square Online, you can enable additional stock history options to track the history of changes to your inventory not related to sales (like theft, damage, etc.). Learn more about managing stock in Square Online.

Gift Options

Note: Enable item gift options by upgrading your Square Online subscription.

Enabling gift options allows your customers to indicate that an item they’re purchasing is intended to be a gift. Buyers can include a message to the recipient that displays on the shipping invoice, along with return or exchange instructions. You can also offer gift wrapping with an optional added fee. Default Item Type

To set the default item type for newly added items in Square Online:

  1. From your Square Online Overview page, go to Items > Item Preferences or Shared Settings > Item Preferences.

  2. Select Edit under “Default item type.”

  3. Choose one of the item types as your default and select Save when finished.

When creating new items from the Site Items page, the preselected item type will be the one you select here. Learn more about creating items and categories in Square Online for more information on item types.

Default Item Fulfillment

To set a default fulfillment method for newly added items in Square Online:

  1. From your Square Online Overview page, go to Items > Item Preferences or Shared Settings > Item Preferences.

  2. Select Edit under “Default item fulfillment.”

  3. Check the boxes for any combination of fulfillment methods out of Shipping, Pickup, Local delivery and QR code ordering.

  4. Select Save when finished.
