Optimize Square Online Items for Search

You can add Search Engine Optimization (SEO) information to items you’re selling online to help them rank better in search results. To do so:

  1. Go to the Square Online Overview page .

  2. Go to Items > Item Library.

  3. Next, you will want to create a new item or choose an existing item to edit.

  4. Scroll down to the section titled Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

There are three optional fields that can be edited for SEO.

A search engine-friendly link for items with lengthy titles. For example, if you’re selling an item called “Organic, Non-GMO, Gluten-Free, Homemade Trail Mix”, you might enter homemade-trail-mix as the permalink.

SEO Title

This title is shown in search results for your item. You should choose something short but descriptive.

SEO Description

This text is shown along with the title in search results. Again, keep it brief but be descriptive. To use the trail mix as an example, the description is a good place to mention that it’s organic, gluten free and non-GMO.

When you’re finished updating these fields, remember to Save and follow the same steps for any other items you want to edit. Changes to SEO settings can take time to show up in search results.
