Set up item default settings

    To create items more quickly, you can configure certain item settings so that new items always have a few attributes automatically enabled, especially for items you sell on your Square Online site. This includes default item type, online channels and site visibility.

    Before you begin

    To see all item defaults, make sure you’ve set up a Square Online account. Learn how to set up your online store with Square Online.

    Set up item defaults

    1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard and click Items & orders > Items > Settings > Item defaults.

    2. Click Edit by the setting you want to configure.

    3. Click Save when finished.

    Available item defaults

    You can set up the following options as your item defaults:

    Item type

    Choose the item type all new items should be. This is especially helpful when you only sell one kind of item (i.e. only Physical good items or only Event items).

    Online channels

    Choose the sites and other online channels to which all new items should be assigned. This is especially helpful when you have multiple sites, or sell on multiple channels such as Google or Facebook.

    Site visibility

    Choose the site visibility option all new items should have out of Available, Hidden, and Unavailable.
