Square Shifts Subscription & Pricing

Square Shifts offers a free and paid version to track your team's time from the Square Point of Sale and Square Team app, manage your team’s schedule, view and allocate tips, and update team member availability.

With the free plan of Square Shifts, your team members can clock in and out at your point of sale or on the Square Team App. With Shifts Plus, you’ll have access to advanced features, such as labour cost vs. sales reports, scheduling paid time off and commission tracking. To get started, select a Square Shifts plan from the Shifts section of your online Square Dashboard.

With Shifts Plus, you’ll have access to advanced features such as labour cost vs. sales reports, scheduling paid time off, commission tracking and more. To get started, sign up for a 30-day free trial from the Shifts section of your online Square Dashboard. Keep in mind that Shifts Plus has a minimum subscription requirement of two team members per month, which includes the account owner.

Shifts Plus Pricing

Square Shifts Plus pricing is tiered based on the number of team members using Square Shifts features on your Square account, including account owners and has a minimum subscription requirement of two team members. Shifts Plus also comes with a 30-day free trial. When your 30-day trial ends, your subscription fee will be based on the number of active team members on your account.

Subscribers to Square Appointments Plus and Premium and Square for Restaurants Plus and Premium will have access to all Square Shifts Plus features as a part of your subscription. You only need to subscribe to one of these services to access Shifts Plus. The free versions of these subscription services do not have access to Shifts Plus features.

Note: Shifts Free allows a maximum of five team members, including the account owner. If you wish to have six or more team members use scheduling, time tracking or any other labour management features, you will be required to subscribe to Shifts Plus.

Note: Subscribers to Square Appointments Plus and Premium and Square for Restaurants Plus and Premium will have free access to all Shifts Plus features. No action is required on your Square account to access these features if you are subscribed to at least one of these services.

Pause or Cancel Subscription

You can also pause your subscription or unsubscribe at any time. Similar to a cancellation, each pause is managed per individual subscription. To pause or cancel your Shifts Plus subscription:

  1. Log in to your online Square Dashboard and select Account & Settings.

  2. Click Business information > Pricing & Subscriptions.

  3. Under Subscription Pricing, click Manage next to the appropriate subscription.

  4. Click Pause Subscription or Cancel Subscription.

When you pause your subscription, you’ll still have access to paid features for 30 days.

Note: You can pause your subscription for up to three months and resume at any time. Any existing team members will continue to have the ability to clock in and out and log their hours on timecards. To learn more about pausing subscriptions, visit our Pause Subscription FAQs.

Downgrade Subscription

If you use Square Shifts Plus, you can downgrade your subscription to the free tier of Square Shifts. To downgrade your subscription:

  1. Log in to your online Square Dashboard and select Account & Settings.

  2. Click Business information > Pricing & Subscriptions.

  3. Under Subscription Pricing, click Manage next to Shifts Plus.

  4. Select the Square Shifts option.
