Customize Your Square Online Booking Site

With Square Appointments and Square Online, you can create a mobile-friendly booking site that allows customers to book appointments online, purchase items, and learn more about your business. You can update your booking site at any time, such as edit and remove services, organize services into categories, or change the order in which services are presented. You can also choose the layout, font style, colors, and optional website pages that go best with your brand.

Access the Square Online Site Editor

You can get started by accessing the Square Online site editor from your Dashboard in one of a few different ways. Learn more about how to navigate the Square Online site editor.

Square Appointments

To access the site editor from Square Appointments:

  1. From your online Square Dashboard, go to Customers > Appointments to go to the Square Appointments dashboard.
  2. Go to Online Booking > Channels.
  3. Select a free or paid theme and start customizing your website. Paid themes require a Square Online Plus or Premium plan subscription. Learn more about Square Online plans and pricing.
  4. Select Publish to see your changes live.

Square Online

To access the site editor from Square Online:

  1. From your online Square Dashboard, go to Online > Online to go to the Square Online Overview page.
  2. Select Edit site to open the Square Online site editor.

Arrange and Add Services

To arrange and add services to your Square Online booking site:

  1. From your Square Online site editor, select the Page dropdown menu to open your Appointments page.

  2. In the editing panel, select Services list.

  3. Drag and drop the services to rearrange their order. To edit the service information or delete the service from your booking site, hover over the service in the list and select "..." to either Edit service information or Delete service item. To add a new service, select +Add and enter the service details. 

  4. Publish your site to see the changes live.

Add an Announcement Banner

You can display a banner on your Square Online booking site with announcements from your business. To start:

  1. From your Square Online site editor, select the Page dropdown menu to open your Appointments page.

  2. In the editing panel, toggle on Banner.

  3. Edit and customize your banner section as needed in the editing panel.

  4. Publish your site to see the changes live.

Display and Update Location Information

You can display the location information of your choosing on your Square Online booking page. To start:

  1. From your Square Online site editor, select the Page dropdown menu to open your Appointments page.

  2. In the editing panel, go to Content > Location information.

  3. Select the checkboxes to display details like your business name, address, opening hours, phone number, email address, and business bio.

  4. Publish your site to see the changes live.

If you ever need to edit your location information, select Edit location details in the editing panel. You can also navigate to your Account & Settings page > Business information > Locations and select the location you want to edit. Editing the information here will automatically update it in the site editor (just be sure to republish your site to make any changes go live).

Add Pages and Content

Besides your booking page, you can add additional pages to your website that include information about your business, services, and whatever else you want to draw attention to. Customize Your Design

With Square Online, you can personalize the appearance of your appointments list on your site by changing your colors, fonts, and buttons. To start, select the Site design panel in the Square Online site editor. Learn more about designing and customizing your Square Online site.

Display Service Categories

You can change the order in which your service categories are displayed on your Square Online booking site. To start:

  1. From your Square Appointments dashboard, go to Online Booking > Channels.

  2. Under Enable online booking, select Manage > Manage service and category order.

  3. Toggle on Display categories online. If you have multiple locations, select "..." > Manage service and category next to the location’s booking site you want to edit.

  4. Drag and drop categories to change the order in which they're displayed. Do the same with services to change the order in which they're displayed under a category. Note: To edit a category, go to your Square Item Library > Categories.

  5. Select Save.

Note: Services that aren't under a category will appear in the Other category on your online booking site.

Add Staff Members

To add staff members to display on your Square Online booking site:

  1. From your Square Appointments dashboard, go to Staff.

  2. Select Add Employee to add your staff.

You'll then see the added staff member appear as an option in the Square Online site editor.

Set Up Advanced Widgets

You can create a widget that only shows specific services, specific staff, or a combination of both using Advanced Widgets. To start:

  1. From your Square Appointments dashboard, go to Online Booking > Advanced widget.

  2. Select Create New Widget.

  3. Choose a name for the widget or keep the default name.

  4. Customize the staff and services to include and select Save when finished.

  5. Copy the widget embed code and add it to your website or email.

Edits made to the widget will automatically update anywhere that widget is installed. Deleting a widget from your Dashboard will not automatically delete embedded widgets on other websites. If the deleted widget code is not removed from a website, an error message will display in place of the widget.

Note: If you choose a staff member who doesn’t have the selected service assigned to them, that service won't appear in the widget. Additionally, all service variations will be displayed regardless of any Online Booking settings, even if a variation has the Bookable by Customers Online setting (found under each service item in your Service Library) turned off.

Allow Customers to Opt In to Marketing

Your customers can opt in to your email or text message marketing campaigns when booking online. The opt-in option includes consent to receive Square Loyalty text message and email campaigns. You can offer customers the option to opt in even if you're not actively using Square Loyalty or Square Marketing. To turn this option on:

  1. From your Square Appointments dashboard, go to Online Booking > Settings.

  2. Under "Marketing opt-in," toggle on Allow clients to opt in to receive text message and email marketing from you.

Choose a Domain

A domain, often known as a URL or site address, is what helps clients find your website while browsing the internet. If you think of your website as a house, then a domain is like the house's address.
