Key Hire Continues Company Momentum as Growth Accelerates

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Jun 13, 2012 - Square, the company revolutionizing everyday transactions between buyers and sellers, has hired Sarah Friar to be the company's Chief Financial Officer. Friar was most recently the Senior Vice President, Finance & Strategy, for enterprise cloud computing leader salesforce.com.

"Square was founded on a commitment to help people start and grow their business," said Friar. "I'm thrilled to join a company driving meaningful economic growth while revolutionizing the payment experience for consumers."
Over 1 million individuals and businesses are able to accept credit cards with Square, which is now processing over $6 billion in payments on an annualized basis.

Before salesforce.com, Friar spent over 10 years at Goldman Sachs in corporate finance, M&A and equity research, and ultimately as business leader for the GS Technology Research group. She previously worked for McKinsey in both London and South Africa. She holds a Masters of Engineering from Oxford and a Masters of Business Administration from Stanford.

In the past year, Square has grown from 80 employees to over 300. The company recently added several VP-level executives including Alyssa Cutright (VP, International) from PayPal, Jesse Dorogusker (VP, Hardware) from Apple and Ricardo Reyes (VP, Communications and Brand Marketing) from Tesla. Square's burgeoning hiring supports its growing revenue and product offerings and precedes the company's plans for international expansion later this year.
