Accept Afterpay

With Afterpay, customers can now pay for purchases Online via Square Online or In-Person via Square hardware. The transaction limit is $1.00 and $2,000.

For in-person payments, customers can add Afterpay Card to digital wallets such as Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay. Learn more about Afterpay and Square, including eligibility and pricing.

Accept Mobile Wallet Cards

Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay are acceptable digital wallets for online and in-person transactions. Customers can also use Apple Pay and Google Pay for Square Online purchases, Square Online Checkout Links or to pay invoices with Square.

Note: Digital wallets are not yet accepted on Square Appointments Online Booking Sites.

Accept Prepaid Cards

The Square Point of Sale app can process prepaid cards with the Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and JCB logo.

Accept International Cards

Square can process most internationally-issued cards with a Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and JCB logo. Most card transactions will prompt your customer for a PIN, however, you may be prompted for a signature if you process an international card.

You can also process international cards via manual entry. To manually process an international card, enter the card number, expiration date and CVV.

Keep the following in mind when processing international cards:

  • While most internationally-issued cards are accepted, processing them is subject to issuer approval. If you experience issues processing an internationally-issued card, have the cardholder contact their issuer.

  • Cardholders may be charged for currency conversion by their card issuer since payments must be processed in your country’s official currency.

  • In order to process payments, you need to be located in the country where you activated your Square account.

Other Payment Methods

Zip Pay’s BNPL contactless payment option Tap and Zip is a virtual card accepted on Square hardware.

Your customers will need to activate it through their Zip account. Once they activate it, they can add the digital card to their mobile device via Apple Pay or Google Pay to pay for in-person goods or services.

Note: Zip via in-store barcode is not yet available with Square hardware.

Card Payment Limits

All Square merchants have a per transaction limit of $1.00 minimum and $50,000 maximum for card payments. If you’d like to accept individual card transactions above $50,000 each, you’ll need to split the payment into multiple instalments.
