Important changes to your Square Online abandoned carts
About the changes to your Square Online abandoned carts
We recently notified you of upcoming changes to your Square Online abandoned carts. Currently, the abandoned carts feature lives entirely in Square Online. Starting October 8, 2024, the abandoned cart email automation will move from Square Online to Square Marketing.
Before you begin
When these changes take place, any abandoned cart emails you’ve set up in Square Online will need to be recreated in Square Marketing. Square Marketing already supports abandoned cart emails that are integrated with Square Online, so we encourage to set this up before October 8. This change also means that any abandoned cart reporting in Square Online will also be unavailable due to the separate Square Online reporting changes. To learn more, check out these Important changes to your Square Online reports.
Understand the changes
- Upgrades: You will have access to abandoned cart emails if you’re paying for a Square Online subscription. You will not need a separate Square Marketing subscription to use abandoned cart emails for your website, nor will you be charged based on your number of customer contacts (i.e. rather than charging based on Square Marketing’s tiered pricing, you’ll have full abandoned cart email access without any other charges), and you’ll have unlimited sends of abandoned cart emails. With a Square Online paid subscription, you will not have access to any other Marketing automations or features beyond abandoned cart emails. For additional Marketing features, you’ll need a separate paid subscription to Square Marketing.
- Downgrades: If your Square Online subscription plan is downgraded, your customers will stop getting abandoned cart emails until you reinstate your Square Online paid plan.
