Use Square for Restaurants on Your Square Terminal

Update Your Terminal
To get started for the first time with Square for Restaurants mobile POS on Square Terminal, you need to update your device to the latest version:
If opening a new Square Terminal out of the box, tap the back arrow twice to get to the sign-in screen.
If already logged in to a Square Terminal, sign out of the device. Tap More, scroll down and tap Sign out, then confirm by tapping Sign Out again.
At the sign-in screen, tap Change Settings.
2. Tap General.
3. Scroll down and tap About Terminal.
4. Check your OS version number. You need to be on OS version 5.17.0058 or higher. If you are not on 5.17.0058 or higher, wait for a software update to download. This typically takes 15 minutes but can take up to 45 minutes to complete. Note: the device will say “Software Up to Date” until it has had 15 minutes to search for the update.
5. When you see that an update is “Ready to Install,” tap Install Now. If your device has less than 35% battery remaining, plug it in for the duration of the update.
6. Once the update is complete, you can log in to Square for Restaurants Plus on Square Terminal with a mobile POS device code. Learn more about creating a device code and getting started with Square for Restaurants mobile POS.
Note: Square Terminal updates automatically overnight as long as it is powered on and plugged in.
