Manage your Square Debit Card

Change Your Square Debit Card PIN

You can reset your Square Debit Card PIN from your online Square Dashboard, the Square Dashboard app, or from your Square Point of Sale app.

From your online Square Dashboard:

  1. Go to Balance > select a location under Locations.

  2. Click the gear icon and select Checking settings.

  3. Choose the debit card in question and click Reset PIN.

From the Square Point of Sale app:

  1. Go to Balance > Checking.

  2. Choose the debit card in question and tap Reset Card PIN.

From the Square Dashboard app:

  1. From the app, tap Banking and select your Square Checking account from Locations.

  2. Tap the gear icon and tap Checking settings > Reset PIN.

  3. Make your edits and tap Save. Keep in mind you’ll have to complete two-factor authentication to update this information.

Additional cardholders are also able to change a card PIN:

  1. Log into your account at balances.squareup.com.

  2. Select the applicable card and tap Reset PIN to enter a new PIN for the card.

Edit Your Billing Address

You are able to view and edit your billing address associated with your Square Debit Card.

From your online Square Dashboard:

  1. Navigate to the Balance tab of your online Square Dashboard > select Square Card.

  2. Click the gear icon and select Checking settings.

  3. Select Edit billing address > make your edits and click Save.

From the Square Point of Sale app:

  1. Go to Balance > Checking.

  2. Tap Billing address.

  3. Select Edit billing address > make your edits and tap Save.

From the Square Dashboard app:

  1. From the app, tap Banking and select your Square Checking account from Locations.

  2. Tap the gear icon and tap Checking settings > Edit billing address.

  3. Make your edits and tap Continue.

Reorder Your Square Debit Card

If your Square Debit Card is lost or stolen, you can cancel and reorder it from your Square Point of Sale app or online Square Dashboard. If you see any unauthorized or fraudulent charges, you can file a dispute either before or after ordering your new card.

Note: Square Debit Card will take 7-10 days to arrive. Your funds will continue to accrue in your Square Checking balance while you wait for your new card to arrive. You will be able to manually transfer that money to your linked bank account at any time.

To do so from the Square Point of Sale app:

  1. Open your Square app > tap Balance > Checking

  2. Tap Get help with Checking.

  3. Next to Status, click on the icon.

  4. Select I lost my card or My card was stolen > Deactivate card > Order a New Card.

  5. Add your virtual Square Debit Card to your digital wallet to use while you wait for your physical card to arrive.

From your online Square Dashboard:

  1. Go to Balance > select a location under Locations.

  2. Click the gear icon and select Checking settings.

  3.  Select Get help with Checking.

  4. Select  I lost my card or My card was stolen Report Lost or Stolen > Deactivate card > Order a New Card.

  5. Add your virtual Square Debit Card to your digital wallet to use while you wait for your physical card to arrive.

Note: The ability to reorder your Square Debit Card from the Square Dashboard app is not available.

Manage Your Notifications

To manage how you receive notifications regarding your Square Checking activity, open the Square Point of Sale app and navigate to Balance > Checking > Notifications.

You also have the option to update your notification preferences to receive SMS alerts when certain transaction types occur on your account. When potentially high-risk transactions occur on your card, such as international purchases,Card not Present (CNP) transactions, or declined transactions, an SMS notification will be sent to the phone number on file. This message will serve to notify you of the transaction, and provide you with the option to temporarily lock your card and review the payment in question. 

You can update your notification preferences or unlock your card at any time from the Balance section of your online Square Dashboard or the Square app.  

Note: If you have multiple Square Debit Cards on your account, only the Square account holder will receive Square Debit Card notifications or update notification settings. The ability to manage your notifications from the Square Dashboard app is not currently available.

Temporarily Lock Your Square Debit Card

You can temporarily deactivate your Square Debit Card from the Square Point of Sale app. To do so:

  1. Open your app and tap Balance > Checking.

  2. Toggle on Lock card.

From the Square Dashboard app:

  1. Open your app, tap Banking and select your Square Checking account from Locations.

  2. Tap the gear icon and tap Checking settings

  3. Toggle on Lock card.

Note: If you have multiple Square Debit Cards on your account, only the Square account holder can lock the Square Debit Card.
