Manage checking account transfers
About checking account transfers
Your checking account has account and routing numbers for making inbound and outbound transfers. You can use your account and routing numbers to allow third parties to debit your balance at no cost to complete payments for bills or expenses. You can also use your account and routing numbers to deposit funds into your balance.
You can link a debit card to instantly add funds to your checking balance so you’re always ready for purchases on your Square Debit Card, regardless of your daily sales.
Before you begin
Once you’ve signed up for a checking account, transfers will switch from automatic to manual and funds will start to accrue in your checking balance.
You can transfer your funds from your balance to your external bank account at any time, either next business day, or with instant transfers with a 1.75% fee per transfer. Once you've completed a single inbound transfer, the button will not appear for another 24 hours.
Unlike instant transfers to your external bank account, there's no fee to instantly add funds to your Square balance.
You can add up to $50,000 per 24-hour period to your checking balance. However, new Square sellers are limited to transferring smaller amounts. As you continue processing with Square, daily limits will increase.
The maximum amount you can transfer via ACH is $50,000 per day, calculated by a rolling 24-hour period. New Square account holders may start with a lower limit.
Inbound funds credited to your checking account using your account and routing numbers can take 2-3 business days before they're available.
Most pending authorizations on your debit card clear within five days, but in rare cases it can take up to 14 days to clear.
Refunds can take up to 10 business days to post to your account from the date the merchant issues the refund. As soon as Square receives the refund, the funds will automatically appear in your checking balance.
You can add your debit card or checking account to Venmo and Cash App using your account and routing number to complete peer-to-peer (P2P) transactions or make purchases directly. You can also instantly transfer your Venmo or Cash App balance to your debit card balance.
