Connect your Square Online website to Meta for Business so you can run personalized targeted ads featuring your products, manage your Meta pixel for enhanced ad targeting, and manage all your eCommerce channels in one place.
Connecting your Square Online site with Meta offers many features, including:
Facebook Pixel: an analytics tool that helps you manage the effectiveness of your advertising.
Ads Manager: a Meta tool where you can create and manage Facebook and Instagram ads.
Automatic Advanced Matching: Advanced Matching can help you optimize your Facebook ads to drive better results. Toggle on this feature so you can use the information your customers have provided to your business, like an email address or phone number, to match your website’s visitors to people on Facebook.
Meta Catalog: a catalog holds information about all the items you want to advertise or sell on Facebook Shops and Instagram Shopping. You can use your catalog with different types of ads and sales channels to promote your items.
Facebook Shops: make your products visible to customers on your Facebook Page. This feature is available through Meta Commerce Manager.
Instagram Shopping: allow customers to buy your items from the Instagram app. This feature is available through Meta Commerce Manager.
Before you begin
You can connect and manage Meta for Business from your Square Dashboard.

Connect Meta for Business
To connect your Meta for Business to Square Online:
Sign in to your Square Dashboard and go to Sales Channels > Online sales channels.
For Your channels, find Meta for Business and select Get started.
Select Connect Facebook account in the Facebook Shops page.
Choose the account you use to manage business assets like Meta Pixel and catalog. The assets you create and connect are owned by this Business Manager. Select Continue.
Select a catalog so you can manage inventory and deliver ads that show your products.
Select an ad account for your business to advertise products and services. If you don’t have an eligible ad account, you can skip this step or select Create new.
Use data from the Meta Pixel to understand actions on your website and measure the results of your ads. The Facebook Pixel is automatically installed and your item library will automatically sync to Facebook and Instagram.
Confirm your settings, then select Continue.
Follow the prompts, then wait for Square and Meta Commerce to complete the integration.
Once connected to Facebook, choose the Facebook page where you want to make your items shoppable. You can also create a new page.
Make sure to verify your domain with Facebook. Proceed below based on the kind of domain you’re using for your Square Online site.
Get Started
If you have a custom domain connected to your Square Online site, you can use DNS verification to verify your domain for Facebook Shops. This verification is typically done by adding a TXT record to your DNS. Learn how to manage records for Square Online domains for more information on how to add a record to your DNS.
To verify your free Square subdomain with a meta tag to set up Facebook Shops:
- Sign in to your Square Dashboard and go to Sales channels > Online > Settings > Tracking Tools.
- Select Add new code.
- Enter the code’s name and the code in the corresponding fields in the pop-up window.
- Place the Facebook meta tag in the header by selecting the < head > option.
- Select Save when finished.
- Publish your site from the Square Online site editor to add the code to your website and complete the verification.
Manage your products synced to Meta
Once you integrate your Facebook and Instagram accounts, you can manage items from your product catalog within your Square account. Any future updates made to your Square product catalog will automatically sync to Meta Commerce Manager.
Sign in to your Square Dashboard and go to Items & orders > Items > Channels Listings.
From here you can bulk edit, search or filter your listings so you can quickly view or edit the attributes of your listings.
To manage your channel assignment:
Sign in to your Square Dashboard and go to Items & orders > Items.
Use the Meta toggle for Square Online Settings to manage channel assignment by assigning or unassigning an item to the channel.
Disconnect your Meta account
You can disconnect your Meta for Business account from Square Online from your Square Dashboard.
Sign in to your Square Dashboard and go to Sales Channels > Online sales channels.
Select Manage for Meta for Business.
Select Remove Channel.
