Customize Shared Social Media Links for Square Online Sites

When someone shares a link to your Square Online site on a social media platform, the appearance of the link is determined by Open Graph, the technical name of the internal protocol that standardizes how links appear when shared on social platforms. You can change the image and text that appear when a page of your site is shared using the integrated social settings in Square.

Note: Changes to social media previews can take time to appear in social media results. How links appear is dependent on the social platform they're shared on.

Shared Links for Your Entire Site

To update shared social links for your website:

  1. From your Square Online Overview page, go to Website > SEO.

  2. Under Social Media, select Update social media.

  3. In the popup window, select the Social tab.

  4. Update the preview image, title, and description. Select Save when finished.

  5. Publish your site from the Square Online site editor to see the changes live.

Updating your shared social links from the Overview page will update the settings for your site's homepage in the site editor.

Shared Links for Individual Pages

To update shared social links for your webpages:

  1. From your Square Online site editor, open up a page of your choice.

  2. Select the gear icon in the editing panel to View page settings.

  3. In the popup window, select the Social tab.

  4. Update the preview image, title, and description. Select Save when finished.

  5. Publish your site to see the changes live.

Shared Links for Items

To update shared social links for your items:

  1. From your Square Item Library, select an existing item or create a new one.

  2. Under "Square Online settings," go to "Social media links" and click Edit.

  3. Update the link title and description. Click Done.

  4. Select Save when finished.

  5. Publish your site from the Square Online site editor to see the changes live.

  1. From your Square Item Library, go to Categories to select an existing category or create a new one.

  2. Under "Social media links," click Edit.

  3. Update the link title and description. Click Done.

  5. Publish your site from the Square Online site editor to see the changes live.
