When you’re making a sale with the Square Point of Sale app, you can note whether customers are dining in, taking their items to go or requesting delivery. Dining Options is available on Android and iOS devices running the latest version of the Square app

For every completed sale, the selected dining option will appear in the following places:

Manage Dining Options Online

Turn On Dining Options

  1. From your online Square Dashboard, select the Items tab. 
  2. Select Settings from within the menu at the top of the page.
  3. Click Set Up Dining Options.

Four default options are automatically created when the feature is enabled:

  • For Here
  • To Go
  • Delivery
  • Pick up

Keep the default list or customise your options. The first option listed will be the default for every new sale.

Edit Dining Options

  1. From your online Square Dashboard, select the Items tab. 
  2. Select Settings from within the menu at the top of the page and tap Dining Options
  3. Click the dining option you’d like to modify or click Create a Dining Option. Enter a dining option name. 
  4. To rearrange, click and drag the three horizontal lines next to the dining option name.
  5. To delete a dining option, click the rubbish bin icon to the right of the name.

Apply Dining Options In-App

For every new sale with the Square app, your default dining option is automatically applied to the current sale. To change the dining option for the entire sale, tap your finger over the default dining option. 

To apply a dining option to a specific item in the cart, tap the item > choose a dining option > tap Save.

Tips for Using Dining Options

  • You can create a total of ten dining options. 
  • Dining options are saved to your item library and not to any specific device.
  • Dining options aren’t available for pickup orders placed from your online store.
