Use Dining Options with the Square App

When you’re ringing up a sale with the Square Point of Sale app, you can note whether customers are eating in, having takeaway or requesting delivery. Dining Options is available on Android and iOS devices running the latest version of the Square app. 

For every completed sale, the selected dining option will appear in the following places:

  • Customer receipts

  • Order tickets for the kitchen

  • In-app sales history

  • Downloadable CSVs from your online Square Dashboard

Manage Dining Options Online

Turn On Dining Options

  1. From your online Square Dashboard, visit Dining Options

  2. Click Set Up Dining Options

Four default options are automatically created when the feature is enabled:

  • Eat-in

  • Takeaway

  • Delivery

  • Pickup

Keep the default list or customise your options.

Edit Dining Options

  1. From your online Square Dashboard, visit your Items tab

  2. Select Settings > Dining Options

  3. To edit, delete or create new Dining Options, click Edit Dining Options > enter a dining option name or make other changes > then click Save.

  4. To rearrange your options, click the three horizontal lines next to the dining option name > drag and drop the option to your preferred order.

Apply Dining Options In-App

For every new sale with Square, your default dining option is automatically applied to the current sale. To change the dining option for the entire sale, swipe your finger over the default dining option. 

To apply a dining option to a specific item, tap the item > choose a dining option > tap Save.

Tips for Using Dining Options

  • You can create a total of ten dining options. 

  • Dining options are saved to your item library and not to any specific device.
