Class Booking with Square Appointments
Square Appointments Plus and Premium subscribers can set up class bookings from their online Square Dashboard and Square Appointments POS app. You can accept class bookings to:
Schedule one-time sessions or recurring classes in just a few clicks.
Easily duplicate classes and assign instructors to avoid booking errors.
Create a Class
From Square Dashboard
Go to Appointments > Calendar on your online Square Dashboard.
Click Create or click a time slot directly on the calendar.
Select Class from the Event type drop-down menu.

Enter the class booking details, including location, scheduling and pricing, staff, and class capacity.
If this is a recurring class, click Repeats to set recurrence. Next, toggle on Repeat class, then set recurrence. Click Save.
Once a repeating class is saved, you will be able to cancel but not edit the start or end time, date, location or repetition.
Click Save.
From Square Appointments POS App
On the 'Calendar' screen, tap + > Create Class or hold down the device to select a time slot, then tap Create Class.
Enter the class booking details, including location, scheduling and pricing, staff, and class capacity.
Tap Save.
Class Bookings via Online Booking Site
When you create a class with Square Appointments, you will see a Classes tab appear on your online booking site. Customers can click Classes on your site to view a week-by-week calendar of your upcoming classes.
Links to your class schedule are available in your Square Dashboard. To access the link:
Go to Appointments on your online Square Dashboard.
Click Online Booking > Channels.
Toggle on Enable online booking and select Manage > View class booking flow.
Manage Existing Classes
Once you create a class, you can edit the name, category, description, capacity, and assigned staff at any point. If changes are made to the date, time, location, and duration of a class after a class is created, any existing bookings for that class will be automatically cancelled and refunded. For recurring classes, a recurring schedule cannot be edited once the class has been created. However, individual classes can be changed or cancelled at any time.
- From the Calendar tab, select the class you want to edit.
- Click ••• then select Edit.
- Make the necessary changes.
- Click Save.
When duplicating a class, all class details will be copied, except for name, date, start time and end time.
- From the Calendar tab, select the class you want to duplicate.
- Click ••• then select Duplicate.
- Enter the new class name, then click Continue.
- Fill out the relevant information.
- Click Save.
- From the Calendar tab, select the class you want to cancel.
- Click ••• then select Edit > Actions.
- Click Cancel class.
- Select This class only or This class and all repeating classes in the future.
- Click Continue > Cancel class to confirm.
Set Cancellation Window
To set a cut-off time for customer class cancellations from your online Square Dashboard:
Go to Appointments > Settings > Calendar & Booking.
Under 'Online Scheduling,' toggle on Clients may reschedule or cancel their own appointments.
By cutting-off time for allowing clients to cancel or reschedule, click the drop-down arrow and select the cancellation cut-off time.
Click Save.
Note: The other settings listed under Settings > Calendar & Booking > Online Scheduling do not apply to Classes.
Book Clients In-person
Go to Appointments > Calendar on your online Square Dashboard.
Select an existing class client on your calendar and click Add attendee.
Search for the existing customer or create a new client.
Click Add to class.
Choose to Take payment to complete the payment at the time of booking or click Skip to revisit this step to take payment at a later time.
Confirmations and Reminders
Both the account owner and the assigned staff will receive an email or text message notification when a new buyer books the class.
Once a customer books a class, they will also receive confirmation notifications via email or text message. They will appear as an attendee within that class on your online Square Dashboard and in your Square Appointments POS app.
View Class Sales
Go to Reports > Category Sales.
Note: Functions like Waitlists, ClassPass, Instagram, or Reserve with Google integrations, and automatically attaching contracts with class bookings are not currently available.
