Timesheet Management for Team Members

Team Member Clock In/Out, Breaks and Switching Jobs

Before you can track team member hours, you’ll need to assign each team member a Personal Passcode so they can clock in and out of the app.

Clock In/Out

To clock in/out on a tablet:

  1. Tap the clock icon in the bottom-right of the Checkout screen > enter your Personal Passcode. If Passcodes are enabled for Team Management, tap Log In/Out > Clock In/Out on the top-right corner.
  2. Enter your 4-digit passcode. If applicable, select a job title for the function you’re clocking in for.
  3. Tap Clock In. To clock out, follow steps 1-2, then tap End Shift.

The clock icon in Square Point of Sale will display if team management is enabled.

To clock in/out on a smartphone:

  1. Tap: Three Horizontal Lines
  2. Tap Clock In/Out.
  3. Enter your 4-digit passcode. If applicable, select a job title for the function you’re clocking into.
  4. Tap Clock In. To clock out, follow steps 1-3, then tap End Shift.

Note: Team members signing in to the Square app with their own email address will not be prompted to enter a personal passcode to clock in or out.

Starting a Break

  1. To take a break on an iPad, tap the clock icon in the Checkout tab. On an iPhone, tap Clock In/Out from the navigation menu.
  2. Enter your team member passcode.
  3. Select Start Break.
  4. Select the applicable break option to start break.

Ending a Break

  1. To take a break on an iPad, tap the clock icon at the bottom-right of the Checkout tab. On an iPhone, tap Clock In/Out from the navigation menu.
  2. Enter your Personal Passcode.
  3. Select End Break > confirm.

Switching Jobs

Team members with multiple job titles and/or wages can switch jobs during their shift to keep track of time worked.

To switch job titles during a shift:

  1. Tap the clock icon in the Checkout tab. On an iPhone, tap Clock In/Out from the navigation menu.
  2. Enter your team member passcode.
  3. Tap Switch Job > select new job.
