Add Square Debit Card to Your Digital Wallet
Square Debit Card allows you real-time access to your Square balance and the ability to spend your funds using the debit card. You are able to use your Square Debit Card to access your funds before receiveing your physical card.
Access your Virtual Card
Once you order a Square Debit Card, and before it arrives in the mail, you can get access to your funds by using the virtual Square Debit Card. The virtual card can also be added to Apple Pay or Google Pay.
You can view the full PAN (card number) of your virtual card to use it for online purchases, and manually enter payments before you get your physical card.
To access your virtual Square Debit Card from the Square app:
From the navigation bar at the bottom of your screen, tap More > Balance > Checking.
You will see the last 4-digits of the virtual card at the top.
In case you want to hide the virtual card information from your Square app, you can do so by toggling off Show card info.
Note: Once you access the virtual Square Debit Card, your transfers will automatically be switched to Manual transfers. Your funds will be stored in your Square Checking balance, which you can access using the physical, or virtual Square Debit Card, or to transfer the funds to your linked bank account.
To view the virtual card information from your online Square Dashboard:
Go to the Balance tab in your online Square Dashboard.
Select a location > gear icon > Checking Settings.
Select Show card info.
A confirmation code will be sent to the cardholder’s email address for verification.
Enter the Confirmation code, and click Next. If you didn’t receive the email, make sure to check your spam folders. You can also resend the email by clicking Resend email.
The card information will now be displayed on the virtual card on the screen.
To hide the virtual card information, click the navigation menu > Hide card info.
What is a digital wallet?
It’s your debit card, digitally available on your phone. Digital wallets store your credit and debit card information securely on your device (smartphone or smartwatch). When you add your Square Debit Card to your digital wallet (Wallet in iOS for Apple Pay, and Google Pay in Android), you can make purchases without your physical plastic card. You can do so by tapping your phone at NFC-enabled terminals for in-person payments, or in-apps and online on your device.
Note: Tablets are not supported. Digital wallets are only available on smartphones.
Add Your Square Debit Card to Apple Pay
From the navigation bar at bottom of your Square app, tap More > Balance.
Select Checking > Add to Apple Pay.
Add Your Square Debit Card to Google Pay
From the navigation bar at bottom of your Square app, tap More > Balance.
Select Checking > Add to Google Pay.
Use Your Digital Wallet
You will be able to use your digital wallet to make payments using your Square Debit Card.
In-Store: You can hold your phone up to an in-store terminal instead of swiping your Square Debit Card, and your digital wallet will automatically launch. You will then be able to complete the payment using Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Online: When shopping online, some sites let you select your digital wallet as your payment option instead of entering your card information.
In-App: You are able to use your digital wallet for in-app purchases and pay conveniently while on the go.
Note: If your Square Debit Card is not your default digital card, then you will need to select it from the list before confirming the transaction.

Can I add my Square Debit Card by entering the 16-digit number directly into my digital wallet?
No. You’ll need to add your Square Debit Card to your digital wallet from the Square app.
I’ve tried to use my digital wallet, but Square Debit Card doesn’t come up. How do I get it to be the default card to appear?
If you’ve added other cards to your digital wallet before you added Square Debit Card, you’ll need to hold and drag it to the top of the cards to make it your default card. In case you don’t want it to be your default card, select the Square Debit Card image from the list when paying.
What is the spending limit for the virtual card?
If you use your virtual card prior to activating your physical card, the spending limit on the virtual card is $5,000 per day.
What is the billing address associated with my digital wallet card?
Apple lets you select your billing address. This is not necessarily the same as the one for your physical card, which you can see in the Square app under Billing Address.
Google will use the one on file with your device. If that doesn’t work, it will try to use your billing address for the physical Square Debit Card which you can see in the Square app under Billing Address. Otherwise, you will be prompted to enter your address when paying with Google Pay.
What is a device account number?
When Apple or Google enables a physical card for digital wallet usage, they replace the physical card’s primary account number (or PAN, the 16-digit number on the card) with a series of randomly generated numbers, also known as the token. These tokens are used to process the payment without bank account details being shared.

If you can see your Square Debit Card in your digital wallet, you can ignore this message.
How long does it take after I successfully add my card to Apple Pay / Google Pay for it to be ready to use in the Apple Wallet?
The Square Debit Card is normally ready to use on Apple Pay within five minutes, and it’s instant with Google Pay.
