About customer insights

Customer insights can help you better understand your customers' behaviors through their payments. Your customer insights report contains the following information:

  • Total customer visits

  • Total amount spent

  • Average visits per customer

  • Average spend per customer

  • Satisfaction ratings 

Before you begin

When reviewing your customer insights, you’ll need to understand the following terms for more context:

  • Total customer visits: The total number of purchases made by customers during your selected time period.

  • Total amount spent: The total amount of money that customers spent during your selected time period.

  • Average spend per customer: The average amount customers spent during your selected time period, including tax and tip.

  • Average visits per customer: The average number of purchases made by your customers during your selected time period.

All insights are based on credit and debit card transactions only. Cash transactions aren't included at this time.

View customer insights report

  1. Sign in to Square Dashboard, then click Marketing & loyalty > Customer directory.

  2. Click Insights and select between Visits and Satisfaction ratings.
