Independent businesses have been poorly served by existing commerce solutions, which require them to laboriously piece together hardware, software, and payments services from many different vendors. From payments to point-of-sale we believe any seller–big or small, online or offline–should be able to start, run and grow their entire business with one cohesive system.
Today we’re excited to introduce two new products for our Canadian sellers: Online Store, helping sellers of any size seamlessly sell online, and Build with Square, a collection of payment APIs available to help our sellers run every part of their business in one place.
Square Online Store is designed to help any seller without an ecommerce offering quickly and easily take their business online. You can customize your online shop to suit your business, whether you sell goods, tickets, services or even to accept donations. It syncs seamlessly with Square Dashboard and your item library, so it’s a cinch to add items to your online store and then check to see what’s selling and when.
With our Point of Sale API, any iOS point-of-sale can be customized to process payments with Square. We know that some sellers–especially in retail, like bike shops or vineyards–have highly individualized point-of-sale needs. By integrating with Square, sellers with a third party point-of-sale will be able to use our beautiful and affordable hardware and receive the same fair and transparent pricing available to all our sellers.
With our eCommerce API, sellers can use Square to process online payments on their own self-hosted, fully developed website for eCommerce. By seamlessly integrating their website with Square, omni-channel sellers will now have a powerful solution to grow both their online and offline businesses together, tracking all sales–no matter where or how they’re made–in one dashboard.
Nexternal, a point-of-sale developer, created HighJump Engage, an iPad point-of-sale and clienteling application for high retail merchants. They were looking to integrate their product with a payments solution that was ahead of the curve when it came to the many significant challenges related to in-person transactions.
“Partnering with Square alleviated us from having to get into the weeds with these technologies, and allowed us to focus our time on our app,” said Alex Gile, Vice President of Nexternal. “Beyond its simplicity, Square has established itself as a trusted payment processor and we’ve found our customers to be both comfortable and familiar with it.”
