How much does Tap to Pay on iPhone cost?
Tap to Pay on iPhone is free to enable with no monthly fees or hardware costs. You only pay Square’s standard processing fee of 1.6% per transaction when you make a sale.
What types of payments can I accept?
Tap to Pay on iPhone accepts major contactless payment methods, including contactless cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay. If your customer does not have a contactless payment method, you can also accept payments with manual card entry, a QR code, or payment link.
Do I need special equipment?
No additional hardware is needed. Tap to Pay on iPhone is available on iPhone XS or above and works with the Square POS app and the latest version of iOS (Minimium iOS 16.4 or later).
How quickly can I start accepting payments?
You can start accepting payments immediately. After you download the Square Point of Sale app, you’ll be prompted to connect your Apple ID. Once that’s done, you’re ready to accept contactless payments with Tap to Pay on iPhone.³
Is Tap to Pay on iPhone secure?
Yes. Accept payments with the security of iPhone. Apple doesn’t store card numbers or PIN information on your iPhone or on Apple servers, helping protect your business and customer data. Combine that with Square security standards: fight fraud for you, managing disputes, and supporting your PCI compliance.
Can I accept payments offline?
No, Tap to Pay on iPhone requires an internet connection via WiFi or cellular connection. To accept offline payments, you can add a Square Reader for magstripe (your first one is free) or a Square Reader for contactless and chip.
How do I send receipts to customers?
Digital receipts can be sent instantly via email or text message directly from the Square POS app after each transaction.
Can I use Tap to Pay on iPhone at farmers markets or outdoor events?
Absolutely! Tap to Pay on iPhone is ideal for mobile sellers and pop-up locations. It works over Wi-Fi or your phone’s cell service, so you can take payments on the go or when Wi-Fi is spotty.
How fast do I get my money?
Standard deposits arrive in your bank account the next day. Instant deposits are also available for a 1.5% fee.
