Manage Your Subscriptions and Payment Methods
Square offers two methods of payment for all subscription services. If you subscribe mid-month, you will be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of the month.
Square Subscriptions Offered
Currently, Square offers the following Paid Services:
Subscription 30-Day Free Trial
Try Square’s subscription services free for 30 days.
If you are enrolled in a free trial and wish to cancel the service, you will need to wait the full 30 days for the trial to complete. After the trial ends, you’ll have the option to subscribe or discontinue the service.
Pay for Square Subscriptions
Pay with a Credit Card
Square accepts all major credit cards as a payment method for subscription services. Square will charge your credit card on the first of the month. This method of payment is best if you want to separate your subscription service expenses from your transaction fees. Your subscription fees will appear on your card statement, while transaction fees will appear in your transfer details report.
Note: You’re currently unable to pay for Square’s Employee Management features with a transfer adjustment.
Pay with a Transfer Adjustment
If you do not link a credit or debit card, Square will deduct fees for your active subscriptions from your Square balance on the first of the month. Active subscriptions do not include free trials. If your Square balance is not sufficient to cover your subscription services, Square will debit the fees from your linked bank account. If you choose this payment method, fees for subscriptions will appear as a transfer adjustment labelled Subscription Services on your transfer details report.
Applicable Subscription Taxes
In any province where sales tax on Square’s subscription products may apply, you will be charged the applicable sales taxes over and above the price of the subscription. This will be automatically applied to the amount of your subscription, and the entire amount, including tax, will be deducted from your preferred payment method at the time of billing.
View and Unsubscribe from Paid Services
You can view your subscription billing details from Pricing & Services on your Square Dashboard. If your business has multiple locations, your monthly bills and summaries can be seen on the location-specific dashboards. To switch location views, click Master Account in the black bar at the top of your dashboard. You can also unsubscribe from subscription services at any time by clicking Cancel Service.
If you remove any subscription service, including your free trial, we will discontinue your subscription for that service on the first of the following month. You will continue to have access to that service through the end of the current month.
You can pause all of your subscriptions to Square products. Similar to a cancellation, each pause is managed per individual subscription. To pause a subscription:
- From your online Square Dashboard, visit Account & Settings
- Click Business > Pricing & Subscriptions.
- Under Subscription Pricing, click Manage next to the appropriate subscription.
- Click Pause Subscription.
Note: You can pause for up to 3 months and unpause at any time.
