With Square, the information entered when sending a receipt is linked to the buyer’s payment card.

Receive Customer Payment Information and Receipts

You may notice that some customers’ information auto-populates in the receipt field after paying. After a customer elects to receive a receipt via email or text message, our system links the entered email address or phone number to their payment card. This way, the next time they pay with Square their information automatically populates, making the process much faster.

Customers can also look up their transactions processed through Square at any time from Square’s transaction search.

Make sure you refrain from sending your customers’ receipts to yourself. You are always sent a payment confirmation email after every successful transaction. You can also find more detailed information about each transaction, including the receipt image, on your Sales page.

Note: You can resend a receipt to a different email address or phone number at any time. Learn more about sending and printing receipts. You can also edit the destination for a receipt during a sale by having your customer tap on the phone number or email address on the receipt screen and input their new phone number or email address.

As with all information submitted to Square, email addresses and phone numbers are encrypted, stored securely and are not accessible to others.
