Customise checkout settings for Square for Restaurants
Before you begin
Your checkout settings include enabling dark mode, taking offline payments, and adding sounds when you take a payment. All your checkout settings are available on your Restaurants POS app.
Before you adjust your checkout settings, make sure you set up Square for Restaurants correctly on your point of sale device. Learn more about how to set up your point of sale with Square for Restaurants.
Enable dark mode
Open your Restaurants POS app and tap Account > Settings > Checkout.
Under Appearance, toggle on Use Dark Theme.
To revert to light mode, follow the same steps and toggle off Use Dark Theme. Note: dark mode is not available with Square Register.
Enable offline payments
If your internet connection becomes interrupted or temporarily unavailable, you can accept payments during an offline session and upload them once you have an internet connection again. Your Square app stores your offline payments, and your payments process automatically when you reconnect your device to the internet. Learn more about how to process offline payments.
To enable offline payments:
Open your Restaurants POS app and tap Account > Settings > Checkout.
Under General, tap Offline Mode.
Toggle on Allow Offline Mode.
Tap Allow Offline Mode.
Enable sounds for payments
When you enable payment sounds, a customised sound plays when your customers insert or tap a Mastercard.
Open your Restaurants POS app and tap Account > Settings > Checkout.
Under General, tap Payment sounds.
Toggle on Allow card network sounds.
To revert to no payment sounds, follow the same steps and toggle off Allow card network sounds.
