Today Square announced a new retail partnership with Harvey Norman, one of Australia’s most iconic home and electronics retailers. From July 15, Square Reader will be available to purchase for $19 at 90 Harvey Norman stores and online across Australia.

Square Reader enables anyone to accept credit and debit card payments on their smartphone or tablet device, and has seen rapid adoption from sole traders and business owners across Australia since launching in March this year. At only $19 to purchase and at a size that fits in your pocket, Square Reader is the smallest, most mobile and most affordable card payment device available in Australia.

Australian business owners of any size, are increasingly enabling customers to pay for any transaction with their credit or debit card, with over 6.2 billion card payments processed in Australia in 2014/15 (up 11% versus previous years). With more customers preferencing card payments over cash, Square Reader gives sellers access to a simple and powerful way to accept credit and debit cards, while enjoying the benefits of Square’s powerful business tools such as online invoicing, a point-of-sale app, inventory management and real-time reporting.

Square’s new retail availability in Harvey Norman stores brings unmatched availability of card payments solutions to Australian business owners. “Square is proud to partner with Harvey Norman, one of Australia’s leading and most trusted retailers. With over 90 new locations stocking Square Reader across Australia, we’re committed to ensuring that any business owner can walk into their local retail store and get access to the tools they need to accept card payments, get paid faster and run their business smarter” commented Ben Pfisterer, Square Australia Country Manager. “There’s no other card payment provider in the country that gives this level of accessibility, and it’s our commitment to the local market to simplify card payments for Australian small business owners.”

Glen Gregory, National Business Manager of Technology and Entertainment for Harvey Norman Australia commented “We see Square as an important addition to our wide range of small business products, for not only our small business customers but the many grassroots sporting organisations that we work with across the country in our stores every day, Square Reader creates a simple cost effective way to fundraise, sell merchandise and receive funds for everyone.”
