About viewing transaction or transferring history of a gift card
You can leverage Square Dashboard and POS tools to view and manage gift card transaction history, enhancing operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Before you begin
You can view your physical and eGift cards transaction history and transfer from Square Dashboard and your Square POS app.
By applying filters in Square Dashboard and the Square POS app, you can view in-depth information about gift cards purchased by customers, such as the purchase date, card type, purchase location, last four digits of the card, card balance, last name of purchaser, purchaser email, and more.
View a gift card's transaction history
Transactions Report
Sign in to Square Dashboard, then click Reporting > Transactions.
Select any transaction completed with the gift card in question or you can search by the last 4 digits of the gift card.
Click the gift card link to view the payment history.
To view the receipts for each gift card transaction, click the receipt link on the left side of the popup window.
Gift Cards Overview Report
Sign in to Square Dashboard, then click Payments > Gift Cards.
From the Overview page, search by gift card number. Click the gift card to view the details. Scroll down to view the gift card activity history.
To view the receipts, click the link in the Receipt column.
Gift Cards Summary Report
Sign in to Square Dashboard, then click Reporting > Reports.
Select Gift Cards.
Use the date and location selector to view the Summary Report and Inter-Location Payables & Receivables Report.
Click Export to receive a downloadable report.
View a gift card's transfer history
- Click Reporting > Transactions > Gift Cards in Square Dashboard.
- Select any transaction completed with the gift card in question or search by the last four digits of the gift card.
- Click the gift card and scroll down to view the transfer history.
