About viewing transaction or transferring history of a gift card
You can leverage Square Dashboard and Point of Sale tools to view and manage gift card transaction history, enhancing operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. By applying filters in Square Dashboard and Square apps, you can view in-depth information about gift cards purchased by customers, such as the purchase date, card type, purchase location, last four digits of the card, card balance, last name of purchaser, purchaser email, and more.
Before you begin
You can view your physical and eGift cards transaction history and transfer from Square Dashboard and your Square apps.
The Inter-Location Payables & Receivables report shows gift card sales between your locations for the time frame selected. When value is loaded onto a gift card, that location receives the gift card funds up front. A location that redeems gift card value is owed sales value by the loading location.
Receivable is the gift card value spent at this location that was loaded at another location.
Payable is the gift card value loaded at this location that was spent at another location.
View gift card transaction history
Transactions report
Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Reporting > Transactions.
Select any transaction completed with the gift card or you can search by the last 4 digits of the gift card.
Click the gift card link to view the payment history.
To view the receipts for each gift card transaction, click the receipt link on the left side of the popup window.
Gift Cards overview report
Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Payments > Gift Cards.
From the Overview page, search by gift card number. Click the gift card to view the details. Scroll down to view the gift card activity history.
To view the receipts, click the link in the Receipt column.
Gift Cards summary report
Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Reporting > Reports.
Select Gift Cards.
Use the date and location selector to view the Summary report and Inter-Location Payables & Receivables report.
Click Export to receive a downloadable report.
View gift card transfer history
- Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Reporting > Transactions > Gift Cards.
- Select any transaction completed with the gift card or search by the last four digits of the gift card.
- Click the gift card and scroll down to view the transfer history.
