Create non-sellable variations with Square for Retail

Who is this article for?
This article is for business owners and their team members with custom permissions who want to create and manage a component inventory of non-sellable variations for ingredients. This is a feature available with Square for Retail Plus. Learn more about Square Staff and custom permissions.

About non-sellable variations

If you’re subscribed to Square for Retail Plus, you can mark any item variations—such as components or ingredients of a bundle—as non-sellable. These items that are not sold directly to customers won’t appear online or at checkout on your Point of Sale. For example, you can track inventory of packing materials for delivery, but the packing materials aren’t sold separately to your customers.

Before you begin

If you haven’t already, start by creating items with variations. Each variation can have its own cost, price, and SKU. Learn more about how to Create and Manage Item Options with Square.
