Create and Manage Device Profiles

Device profiles allow you and your employees to save and reuse settings across all of your devices from your Square Dashboard. Once you create a device profile, you can assign it to your devices to automatically apply customized settings. Before you create device profiles, learn how to view and add devices and create device codes with remote device management.

You'll need to update your Square app and device software to the latest version to avoid any issues on the devices you have linked to profiles.

Note: Currently, only select Square Point of Sale sellers have access to remote device management. Sellers using the Square Restaurants POS app or Square Retail POS app will have different device management features and can manage devices in Square Dashboard through Settings > Device Management > Points of sale > POS Devices. Learn more about managing devices with Square for Restaurants and shared settings with Square for Retail.

Device management makes it possible to control many different settings, but some are managed per location, or apply to your entire account. You will need to manage those settings on your device directly or in Square Dashboard.

To start, Square will be offering remote device management for free with limitations to Square Point of Sale sellers. After that, remote device management and additional features will only be available through a paid monthly subscription.
