Use Order With Google with Square Online

Order With Google allows potential customers to more easily discover and order directly from your Square Online single ordering page using Google search. Customers who are looking to place orders for pickup and local delivery on Google can easily visit your site to complete their order, keeping business directly between you and the customer.

By encouraging customers to order directly from your site instead of a third-party marketplace app, you can help maximize your profits by reducing the amount of commission fees you pay to third-party marketplaces. You’ll also be able to encourage repeat orders by retaining customer data so that you can market and promote your business to them in the future. Plus, using this feature comes at no additional cost to you.

By enabling Order With Google, you can:

  • Increase organic discovery of your Square Online site

  • Encourage customers to order directly from you instead of from a third-party marketplace app

  • Retain customer data for future promotional opportunities

  • Allow your customers to easily search your business on Google and choose your direct ordering link

Before You Start

Before you set up Order With Google for your website, you’ll need the following:

A Google Business Profile listing

A Google Business Profile listing is required for the Google food ordering feature to appear in your Square Online Overview page. If you don’t have a Google Business Profile listing, you can learn how to add or claim your Business Profile on Google in Google’s support center.

If your link isn’t showing up on Google (even with a Google listing), check that your category on Google is accurately reflecting your business type. Some Google Business Profile merchant categories may not be eligible for the Google food ordering experience.

You should also check that your category on Google is part of the food and drink business type. You can change it to a food and drink category if necessary. Any changes made to your category may take up to 24 hours to appear in Google.

Your site must be published

Publish your website from the Square Online site editor by selecting Publish.

Your site must be currently accepting orders

Make sure you’re currently accepting orders by reviewing your settings for Checkout in your Square Online Overview page.

Your fulfillment settings must include pickup and/or local delivery

If you haven’t already, set up pickup and local delivery by going to your Square Online Overview page > Fulfillment > Pickup & Delivery.

Be listed as a food and drink business with Square

This feature is currently only available to food and drink business types. To change your business type with Square, contact Square Support.

Enable Order With Google

If you have a single site and meet the requirements for Order With Google, this feature will be auto-enabled for you, but if you have multiple sites, you’ll need to enable it manually.

To enable Order With Google for your Square Online sites:

  1. In your Square Online Overview page, go to Sales Channels > Order with Google.

  2. Toggle on the option to sync your sites and all future locations to Google.

  3. Toggle on the location(s) you want to associate with your site.

With multiple sites in your account, you’ll need to toggle on the location(s) that you want to associate with each of your sites. Each location can only be associated with one site at a time (i.e. you won’t be able to use the same location on multiple sites).

Note: Any future changes you make to your settings may take up to 24 hours to appear in Google.

Disable Order With Google

To disable Order With Google for your Square Online site:

  1. In your Square Online Overview page, go to Sales Channels > Order with Google.

  2. Toggle off the option to sync your site and all future locations to Google.

When you disable Order With Google for your Square Online site, it’ll also disable all future syncing of any new locations you create.
