Manage orders from online ordering partners with Square for Restaurants

Thank you for testing the new integration between Square for Restaurants and delivery partners - Caviar, Postmates, DoorDash, and Chowly!

We are excited to offer a new, streamlined integration that will allow you to reduce labor costs and improve kitchen operations.

What to expect with the new integration:

  • Order Management: Pickup and delivery orders placed with Caviar, Postmates, DoorDash, and Chowly will appear directly in the Square for Restaurants app where you can accept, mark as ready, and complete orders!

  • Printing: Kitchen tickets will print when orders are accepted with item and pickup details.

  • Reporting: Delivery orders will appear in Square reports; however, note that the delivery partner’s revenue share, adjustments (including refunds), and surcharges will not.

Receiving delivery orders in the Restaurants app

Once your Square for Restaurants account is linked with Caviar, Postmates, DoorDash, or Chowly, you will begin receiving delivery orders in your Square for Restaurants app.

Note: You will not be able to view past delivery orders in your Square for Restaurants app, but all orders moving forward will be visible.

To view delivery orders in your Square for Restaurants app:

  1. Launch the Square for Restaurants app on your iPad.

  2. You will notice a new Orders tile on the on the lower-right hand corner of your menu.

  6. Once an order is marked as Completed, you are able to view it in your sales reports. You can view individual orders in your reporting by signing into your Square Dashboard on a computer > Transactions, and your orders will also pull into your Sales Reports.

Managing orders from multiple online ordering partners

If you have more than one online ordering service integrated into your Square for Restaurants app, you are able to filter your orders by Source on the left-hand status bar so that you are able to track each individually.

As new orders come into the Orders view, the logo of the online ordering service will appear next to the order so you can easily tell which orders are coming through which online ordering service. If they have not provided a logo, the Square logo will appear.

Adjusting delivery orders in Square for Restaurants

Refunding delivery orders

Please note that, similar to the way refunds work today in Caviar, Postmates, DoorDash, or Chowly, performing a refund on a delivery order will update in your reporting with the delivery partner, but it will not actually refund your customer. To refund your customer, please contact your delivery partner.

Adjusting order pickup time

As a part of this new integration between Square for Restaurants and these delivery partners, when you receive a delivery order in your Square for Restaurants app, you are now able to adjust the pickup time of the order before you accept it.

To adjust the pickup time of a delivery order:

  1. Launch the Square for Restaurants app on your iPad.

  2. Tap the Orders tile in the lower-right hand corner of your menu.

  3. Tap on an order to open the order details.

  4. Next to the order, tap Adjust.
