Online Store General FAQs
How much does the Online Store cost?
Online Store sales have a per-transaction fee of 2.9% + 30¢. That’s it – no monthly fees or other costs for hosting or listing your store.
If you’re currently selling online with Square, you’ll maintain your existing rate of 2.75% through June 2016.

Is the Online Store available internationally?
Yes, the Online Store is available in the U.S. and Canada. Note: Online transactions are currently only supported for sellers and deliveries within the same country.
For the ability to sell and ship internationally, you can connect your Square account with our eCommerce partner, Bigcommerce.
Why do my online sales show as Deferrals Held and Deferrals Released?
Online Store sales are shown in your Deposits Summary as:
- Deferrals Held: Online orders that have not yet completed
- Deferrals Released: Online orders that have completed
Deferrals Held are pending payments that will deposit into your linked bank account once you complete the order.
When a customer places an order through your Online Store, the money is immediately deducted from their card and stays in your Square balance as Deferrals Held until you complete the order. So after you ship an order, make sure to complete it from your Square Dashboard.
If an online order is completed after your daily deposit cutoff time, for example after 5pm PT on Thursday, funds are included in your next deposit and appear as Deferrals Released.
Online Store Settings FAQs
Can I edit the HTML of the Online Store?
Not at this time, but you can choose from different themes to customize the look and feel of your store. You can also connect your Square account to Weebly or Bigcommerce to accept online payments and gain access to different templates and page layouts.
Are there other themes?
Why isn’t my store showing online?
It may be that your store isn’t turned on. To check, go to your online Dashboard and toggle on Visible Online. To sell your goods or services, toggle on Accepting Orders. Make sure to save any changes.
Can I change my store’s web address or pick a custom domain?
Can multiple business locations use one Online Store account?
Not at the moment, but it’s something we’re working on. You’ll need to associate your Online Store with a specific location.
Does the Online Store work with inventory management?
Yes, but you’ll need to manually adjust your inventory count for every return.
How do I bulk import Events and Donations?
The ability to import items created from your item library is limited to Goods and Services at the moment. You’ll need to create Events and Donations directly from the Site Editor. Once created, these items will display in your item library.
